Theresa Rose Farve Smith peacefully entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, in Houston, TX. Theresa was a native of New Orleans, LA. In 2005, Theresa and her family relocated to Houston, TX. She was born to the union of the late Morris M. Farve, Sr., and Mary Elvera Pichon Farve on May 4, 1945. Theresa attended Epiphany Catholic School and Joseph S. Clark High School. She retired from New Orleans Public Schools where she committed herself to educating the children of New Orleans for 25 years. Theresa was a loving woman, a lively woman, a compassionate woman, a strong woman, and most importantly a Christian woman. Theresa was a devout member of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church in New Orleans, LA, and a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Houston, TX.
Theresa is survived by her husband, Raymond Smith, to whom she was a loving and faithful wife for 54 years; cherished daughters, Rey T. Smith and Tracy Smith Goudeau; grandchildren, Chelsey Zardes, Razzak Akorede, Rufaiyyat Rian Akorede, and Justin Watson; great-grandchildren, Caiden McClain and Anaya Jones; bonus daughter, Cebrina Sanders; siblings: Mary Bailey, Joseph Bernard Farve, Sr., Ann Duplessis, Lawrence Farve, Sr., and Margie Farve; sisters-in-love: Kara Smith, Yvonne Smith Dukes, and Doris A. Farve; brothers-in-love: Earl Bailey, Sr., and Joseph Duplessis, Sr.; Godchildren: Toyin Idewu, David Pichon, Sr., and Earl Bailey, Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Theresa was preceded in death by her parents Morris M. Farve, Sr. and Mary Elvera Pichon Farve. Siblings Morris M. Farve, Jr., Elvera F. Thomas, Raymond Farve, Charles M. Farve, Sr., and Phillip Farve.
All relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend wake services on Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Brookside Funeral Home – Champions, 3410 Cypress Creek Pkwy., Houston, TX 77068, 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.; and a Mass of Christian burial on Friday, June 9, 2023, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 19222 TX-249, Houston, TX 77070. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. followed by mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038.
