Theresa "Mama" Molina De Leon, 94, of Houston, TX., passed away, September 3, 2022. Theresa was number 9 out of 12 children born to Joseph and Rosaura Tellez Molina, on December 19, 1927, in Houston, TX. She graduated from Sam Houston High School class of 1947. She married Julio F. De Leon on November 20, 1950, and they lived in Houston, TX. Together they raised 7 children, 12 grandchildren & 7 great grandchildren. She was faithful to her Lord and was a lifelong member of the Assumption Catholic Church. She was an Eucharistic Minister, she assisted the priest in administering the elements of Holy Communion to those who were ill or otherwise unable to attend the church service, she volunteered her time for food drives, sitting with the elderly, passing out food or books to residents in retirement facilities, donated time, money or both to many organizations. She was the example of selfless, sweet and sincere.
She taught each generation our prayers, the sign of the cross - to love God & put him first. To always believe and have faith. Never cuss in her house because we're not in a beer joint, if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all & s*** goes in the toilet. Mama allowed each and every one of us to be exactly who we are without judgment; she didn't care. She loved us anyway - Holy water & prayer would cure us all; eventually. Theresa was the purest, most trustworthy woman we could pray to be like. She was the sweetest - most holy - kindest soul; our gateway to heaven. Mama enjoyed a cup of coffee & sweet bread while reading her newspaper. She routinely watched her novelas with Papa or she would be catching the shuttle bus to the Coushatta Casino. Don't ask her if she won anything because it's a secret. She was a mother to all of her kids, grandkids & neighborhood kids. Her door was opened to anyone who turned the knob. If there were 6 people & one sandwich; everyone was getting a piece. Grandma loved spending time with us, having laughs until the next visitor made their entrance.
Some called her a Saint, others called her an Angel, but us; we simply called her Mama.
She is survived by her children; Patricia Valdez and husband Rito, Rosaura "Roseanna" De Leon Meyers and husband Chuck, Cynthia De Leon Montez and husband Rudy, Alfonso De Leon and wife Jessica, Russell De Leon and wife Shelley. She also leaves to cherish her memory are her grandchildren; Paul (Yana), Tania (Rudy), Shawn, April, Shannon, Jason, Corey, Courtney, Nicholas, Tyler, Isabelle, and Leah, great-grandchildren; Alyssa, Michael Anthony, Alec, Christopher Angel, Jacob, Anthony, Ymagine Love, and a host of family and friends. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her.
She is preceded in death by her husband; Juilo F. De Leon Jr., sons; Juilo "Bobo" De Leon III., David M. De Leon, parents; Joseph and Rosaura Tellez Molina, 11 siblings, grandson; Michael A. Valdez, granddaughter; Lisa Marie.
