Than M Shwe

Than M Shwe, of Houston, Texas, passed away on October 20, 2023, in the hands of his beloved wife. Than was born on December 8, 1942 in Burma to parents U Su and Daw Kyi. As a child, Than was always willing to help his brothers and friends when needed.

On February 20, 1969, Than married his wife Rodica in Bucharest, Romania. Than was a very educated man and attended the University of Rangoon, where he earned a diploma as an engineer with a Master of Science. He also attended the Institute of Petroleum and Gas and Geology in Bucharest, Romania.

After receiving his education, Than and his wife moved to Houston. He enjoyed many hobbies including golf, gardening, and spending time with loved ones at family outings. Than also served as President of the Burmese American Association. During his career, Than achieved many great accomplishments like petroleum patents and inventions on the field. He was a very funny man, always making his friends and family laugh. As an animal lover, Than cherished his dogs and animals.

Than is survived by his loving spouse Rodica Shwe, and many nieces and nephews in Rangoon, Burma.

A visitation for Than will be held Friday, October 27, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077. A funeral service will occur Friday, October 27, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77077. A committal service will occur Friday, October 27, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77077.
