Terry Gene New

Terry Gene New, age 56, passed away Friday, May 22, 2015. Terry was born December 8, 1958 in Lockhart, Texas. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joann Murphree and father, Gene Raymond New. He is survived by wife Cathy New; his son, Justin New and wife Kristin; his daughter, Amanda New; his step-sons, Dillon and Dalton Smith; his step-mother, Doris New; his brothers Chuck New, Ken Anglin and wife Vicky; his sister, Kathy Oehlert and husband Gary, Kellie Sustaita and husband Tommy; his grandchildren, Anthony, Elizabeth and Rylee, numerous other relatives and friends.

Terry graduated from Alvin High School in 1977, where he did well scholastically and in golf.

Terry’s grandmother was the inspiration for his great love of cooking. This he carried over to the many Cook offs. He was a member of the Brisket Cases cooking team and volunteered on the Transportation Committee for the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo.

Growing up in a small rural community, he developed a passion for the outdoor life, mainly hunting and fishing, which he shared enthusiastically with his children and grandchildren. Although his arthritis stopped his hunting, he was an avid fisherman until the end. He found great enjoyment in building Custom fishing rods.
