He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Marilyn Forse Allen, and four children, daughters, Denise Allen Crandall and husband Mark E. Crandall of Cypress; Cheryl Allen Sobolik and husband, Keith V. Sobolik, of Cypress; Sandra Gail Jones also of Cypress; son, Ted Wayne Allen II and wife, Shara D. Allen, of Katy. He has eight wonderful grandchildren whom he adored; Derek Alden Crandall and wife, Liliana, Allison Anne Sobolik, Eric Allen Sobolik, Russell Jordan Crandall, Christian Dean Wilson, Ted Wayne Allen III, Bailor Elisabeth Allen, and Marilyn Gayle Grace Allen.
His parents, Eva Louise Kindred and Columbus Murphy Allen, preceded him in death. Also, preceding him in death are a brother, R. C. Peters and sister, Effie Joy Tate. Surviving him are a brother, Pat Henry Allen and a sister, Jackie Nell Evans, numerous nieces and nephews, friends and associates.
He graduated high school from Allen Military Academy in Bryan, Texas and attended Texas A&M University. He was a member of the Fighting Texas Aggie Football Team, Class of ’61, and played under the great Coach Paul ‘Bear’ Bryant. He held a great affection for his alma mater and has many Aggie friends and fellow team members that he remained close to until his death.
In 1967, he started Ted W. Allen & Associates, an independent insurance agency in Houston, Texas. He spent a lifetime building his Company and taught his grown children the operation of the business. He was a model of integrity and taught them the importance of treating people with honesty and fairness.
He was a wonderful father, always involved in his children’s lives whether it be softball games, PTA meetings, camping with the Girl Scouts, band concerts, piano recitals, football games, or teaching his son a love for hunting. He accompanied his family to church every Sunday and was an ordained Elder in the Presbyterian Church. He made his family and his God a priority in his life. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o'clock this afternoon until eight o'clock this evening, Friday, the 16th of March, in the Library and Grand Foyer of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
The funeral service is to be conducted at eleven o'clock in the morning on Saturday, the 17th of March, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons.
Immediately following, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent Grand Foyer.
An interment service is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Sunday, the 18th of March, at the Plainview Cemetery, situated on Farm to Market Road 1 in Plainview, a community near Pineland, Texas.
