Tanya LaNette Williams was the first-born child to Robert and Shirley Ann Barnes in Houston, Texas on February 10, 1968. Blessed with 56 full and fruitful years, she was a woman of great faith and exercised the power of prayer over her family as well as others. God gifted her with a huge heart of care and concern. This was an attribute she displayed throughout her life. She was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever needed.
Tanya met the man of her dreams at Jack Yates Senior High School. The two united in marriage on November 11, 1987. Together they had three loving children, Issac Williams Jr, Janette Williams, and Ieshia Williams. Tanya accepted Christ at the young age of nine under the leadership of Pastor Gusta Booker at Greater Saint Mathews Missionary Baptist Church. She would later join Jordan Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Peterson. She was a faithful and dedicated servant; she never missed an opportunity to attend church until her health began to fail. She was a part of the Young Adults Choir and helped the culinary team alongside her husband during Vacation Bible School. As a native Houstonian, Tanya graduated from Jack Yates Senior High School in 1987.
She went on to continue her education at Houston Community College where she obtained her Nurse Aide Certification. Tanya was employed at Texas Children’s Hospital and various assisted living facilities. Outside of work, Tanya was passionate about helping others, she would regularly volunteer at MD Anderson Cancer Center in the beauty shop and daycare center.
Tanya was preceded in death by her son, Issac Ray Williams Jr, her father, Robert Barnes, and her grandparents Willie and Monzella Vinson. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Issac Williams, two daughters, Janette Williams and Ieshia Williams, her mother, Shirley Ann Barnes, her brother, Lawrence Barnes, two aunts, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
