Sylvia was born on June 6, 1962 in Houston, TX to the late Ester & Salvador Cacique. She was one of 12 children. She was preceded in death by her siblings Gloria Cacique, Salvador Cacique, Rogelio Cacique, Mary Elizabeth Soraiz, Yolanda Siros, Irene Cacique & Jovita Cacique. Sylvia is survived by her four siblings Janie Silva, Diana “Birdie” Cacique, Sal Cacique & Sandra Herrera.
Sylvia worked hard to provide for her 3 children as a single mother. She later met and married her husband Ernesto Torres in 2000. They have been married now for 21 years. Ernesto & Sylvia were soulmates. He would do anything for her even if it was the simplest thing like going back to the store with a picture and video just to get her the right bag of chips she wanted. In the words of Ernesto, “Mi Gorda, Yo te quiero mucho!”
Sylvia, also known as Shorty was always the life of the party even though she was 20 hours late but she made sure she showed up and had her Tupperware in hand. She was loud and fun to be around and there was never a dull moment. You could hear her loud laugh a mile away. If you knew Sylvia then you know she loved being surrounded by her family laughing, eating good food & drinking a cold Busch Light. She loved her football squares, football games & boxing matches. She also loved being in her cozy bed wearing one of her 50 pairs of pajamas all bundled up. If she wasn't in her cozy bed then you could find her thrift shopping at the nearest Goodwill. She loved a good bargain and had a costume for every occasion.
Sylvia was a friend, sister, Wife and Mom but her favorite was being a Grandma. She loved her 8 grand babies. Birthdays & Christmas were always a fun surprise for them when she would show up with a crazy wrapped gift or a funny prank gift. Mother daughter days were always a fun thing for her too. She loved being spoiled by her daughters but was never really surprised by their gifts, since she made sure she told them exactly what she wanted. She made so many memories with her girls like mani/pedi days, margaritas, eating Church’s chicken and watching the same Lifetime movies over and over in her bed. Being a Grandmother & Mother she leaves to cherish her memory her son John Hector Soto, daughter Melissa Wieladek (Husband- Lukasz Wieladek), daughter Amanda Gomez (Fiance- Jeremy Fleming) and grandkids Xavier, Jazlyn, Fabian, Aubrey, Alija, Ke’aron, Jeremiah and Lukasz Jr.
