Sylvia A. Coleman

Sylvia Coleman was born to Rosa Mae Jones and McKinley Coleman on September 5, 1943. She was an ever present fixture of the 5th Ward neighborhood where she was dearly known as Ann.

Sylvia graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Prarie View A&M.

She was a history teacher at Kashmere Highschool and she worked for Harris County Social Services for 27 years and retired as a supervisor.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father and 6 brothers and sisters.

Sylvia is survived by her daughter, Marilyn (Nikki), grandchildren, Wyman, Avery, and MaCory, and her brothers Edward Jones, Jr. (Wife, Linda Jones), and Jerry Jones (Wife, Lucy Jones).

She will truly be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

A graveside service for Sylvia will be held Thursday, April 7, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Paradise Cemetery North, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088.
