While growing up, Sydonia attended school at Trinity Lutheran completing 2 grades in 1 year. She also worked on her parent’s farm and other farms picking cotton. At age 15, she was a live in house keeper, in the River Oaks section of Houston where she first experienced electricity and indoor plumbing. Returning to Fedor, she then met Freddy George Iselt and was married on July 20, 1952 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fedor, Texas. They made their home in Houston. In January 1953 when Freddy was called to the Army, she stayed with her sister and worked at Consolidated Venetian Blind factory. Upon Freddy’s return 2 years later, they began their family of three girls.
Sydonia loved life and was a real go-getter. She baby sat raising many many children, loved going to the casino and playing the slot machines and her travels abroad. In 1983 once, her eyesight started to deteriorate it slowed her down but did not stop her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Oswald and Anna (Jatzlau) Patschke; brothers, Alton Patschke and wife Marie, Arnold Patschke and wife LaVerne and Wilbert Patschke; sisters, Alice Proske and husband Raymond, Verline Patschke, sister-in-law Gladys Koslan and husband Richard, brother-in-laws Elmo Iselt and Melvin Iselt, sister-in-law Irene Iselt.
Sydonia is survived by her husband Freddy, three daughters, Shirley Hohle and husband Alan of Houston, Cynthia Mann of Waco and Verlene Metzler of Houston. Grandchildren Keith Julian and wife Lana of Temple, Rachel Brennan and husband Will of Houston, Eric Mann and wife Leana of Rockdale, Brian Metzler and Jessica of Houston, Sara Mann of Dallas, Samuel Hohle of Houston and Matthew Hohle of Houston. Great grandchildren, London, Mikala, Amber, Wesley, Hayden, Lane, Harper, Mason and Kason. Great Great granddaughter, Kaiden. Brothers Edmund Patschke and wife Alice, Monroe Patschke and wife Lorine, sister-in-law Kathleen Patschke, brother-in-law Wilbert Iselt, sisters-in-law Joyce Iselt and Terry Iselt, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
Friends are invited to visitation with the family on Sunday, September 23, 2018 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm in the Stateroom at Earthman Funeral Directors at Hunters Creek, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77024. Friends are invited to visitation and a catered reception with the family on Monday, September 24, 2018 from 10:30 am until 12:30 pm in the event room at Earthman Funeral Directors at Hunters Creek. Funeral services will follow at 12:30 pm in the Hunters Creek Chapel at Earthman Funeral Directors. Interment to follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77079.
