Suzanne Cox Williams, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away June 20, 2012. She was born March 21, 1936 to Homer T. and Gertrude Cox in Shreveport, La. She is survived by her husband of 55 years Robert H. “Bob” Williams, sons Robert Jr., Garrett and Keith Williams, daughter Holly Shafer and grandchildren Tyler, Elizabeth and Jesse Williams and Jonathan Shafer. She is preceded in death by her brothers Homer T. Cox of Bossier City, La and Thomas Cox of Dale City, Va.
Suzanne was a graduate of Louisiana State University, receiving a degree in Elementary Education. She taught public school in Baton Rouge, La and Houston, Tx. After attaining a master’s degree in library science at Sam Houston State University, Suzanne served as assistant upper school librarian and as middle school librarian at Kinkaid School.
One of Suzanne’s favorite pastimes was working in her garden. She loved tending her flowers and watching the many varieties of birds passing through her yard.
Suzanne joined Tallowood Baptist Church in 1966 and spent many years teaching Sunday School to first graders or working in the Church nursery.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00pm Monday June 25th, at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Services will be held Tuesday June 26th at 10:00am, with internment immediately following.
