Susan A. Swantner

Susan was born on September 30, 1961 to her beloved parents Thomas Roger Swantner and Beverly Swantner Till, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Susan lived in Corpus Christi before moving to Houston in 1975, and then to College Station, where she graduated from A&M Consolidated High School in 1973. She completed her studies in Court Reporting at Jackson Business College in Austin, Texas. Susan began her 30-plus years of Court Reporting career in Little Rock, Arkansas. After moving back to Houston, Susan co-owned Network Reporting. Susan married Jim West, and moved to Bolivar, Texas in 1994. She moved to Katy, Texas while working with Sunbelt Reporting and Litigation Services, where she was still providing court-reporting services for long-time clients. Susan married James Davant after moving to Blessing, Texas, where her daughter, Nikki, graduated from Tidehaven High School in June of 2013.

Always an adventurer, Susan's favorite times were spent with Nikki, along with family& friends while fishing, scuba diving, hunting, traveling, and volunteering her time and fishing skills for coastal conservation causes.

She is predeceased by her father, Thomas Roger Swantner, her sister, Deborah Leigh Swantner, and her nephew, Jordan Thomas Delaloye. Susan is survived by her daughter, Kristin Nicole West (Nikki), her mother, Beverly Swantner Till, her sister and brother-in-law, Diana & Harry Allen, nieces & nephews, Taelor & Bryce Chandler, Anthony Allen, Ryan Delaloye, and step-children, Ted & Jennifer Davant.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 10:00 am at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home in Houston, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations in Susan's memory may be made to Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) through Kim Vollentine at CCA Texas, 6919 Portwest Drive, Houston, Texas 77024.
