Susan Kay Rakestraw

Susan Rakestraw Stasney passed away at home surrounded by family after an extended illness. Susan was born and raised in Houston and attended Pershing Junior High and Lamar High Schools. She married John Stasney in 1999 and had two boys, now young men, Hunter and Jensen.

Susan lived to help others. She volunteered at the schools her boys attended, she collected donations for food banks, volunteered at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and helped an untold number of neighbors, friends, and strangers when hurricanes hit our region. Susan taught preschool and became a successful realtor, where she helped change lives in addition to selling homes.

Susan is survived by her husband John Stasney, her sons Hunter Stasney and John Jensen Stasney, Jr., her mother Madelyn Rakestraw, all of Houston, TX; her brother Danny Rakestraw of Las Vegas, NV; her mother-in-law Jeannette Armstrong of Houston; and sister-in-law Linda Langley of Huntsville, TX; and multitude of family and friends. She is preceded in death by her father Harold Rakestraw, father-in-law Frank Stasney, Grandmother Dorotha Walker, and uncles Johnny Johnson and Jimmy Johnson.

Friends are invited to visitation with the family on Saturday, March 11, 2023 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm with a Memorial Service following at 2:00 pm in the Hunters Creek Chapel at Earthman Funeral Directors, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77024.
