Susan grew up and graduated from High School in Garden City, New York. She moved to Upstate New York and graduated from Nazareth College with a BA in Art Design. Susan followed the family to Houston Texas in 1975 and worked with Cornelius Nursery doing their advertising and continued her love with plants by becoming a certified nursery woman.
Susan started her own advertising art agency named Utopian Art (www.UtopianArt.com) and had an office in the center of the advertising world in Houston in the Greenway Plaza Area for many years when she decided to downsize and focus on raising her family.
Susan lived in the SW Houston Area and was married to the father of her son, Robert Rivers McCown. She later married the father of her daughter, Glenn Luke. Susan's true love was being a mom and loving her children. She was very active on the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Souvenir Program Committee and the Art Auction Committee for many years. Susan enjoyed Gardening and Lecturing to 40 different Garden Clubs on her dish gardens and was premiered on the Deborah Duncan TV Program. She also enjoyed creating Art and Beach Glass Jewelry.
Susan was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Elizabeth Dunn Pietrowski; and her son’s father, Robert Rivers McCown. She is survived by her children, Christopher River McCown (25) and Sarah Kaitlyn Luke (13); her Father Frank Pietrowski, Jr.; and her brothers Raymond C. Pietrowski and Frank T. Pietrowski.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6 pm until 8 pm on Friday, January 28, 2011 in the Hunters Creek Chapel at Earthman Funeral Home, 8303 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas 77024, phone 713-465-8900. (1-10 between Voss and Chimney Rock). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at St. Cyril of Alexandria, 10503 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77042 (Westheimer and Beltway 8). Rite of Committal will be immediately follow in Forest Park Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer, Houston, Texas 77077(Westheimer and Dairy Ashford).
