Susan May Williams Carson passed away on Monday, May 26, 2014, in Shiner, Texas at the age of 94. She was born on January 27, 1920 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where she grew up and graduated from high school. She was the daughter of Emma and Ray Hoy. Susan married Cecil Williams on May 23, 1941 in Oklahoma City. The couple moved to Houston in the early 1950s. Mr. Williams died on March 7, 1977. Susan married Charles “Kit” Carson on January 14, 1984 in Houston. She worked in several banks and credit unions in the Houston area, retiring from Capital Bank in 1984. Susan volunteered in the Houston ISD school district, was a member of Delta Rho Delta Sorority, Omega Chapter and St. Stephens United Methodist church in Houston. After Mr. Carson died, Susan resided at The Terrace at Spring Shadows Place retirement center. While there she enjoyed sharing stories with friends, playing bridge and serving as the librarian. Susan is survived by one sister, Roberta Shoenherr of Ventura, California and nephews Otis Gove and Robert Gove, a niece, Donna Gove Griffin and step-daughter, Deborah Munro. Susan is preceded in death by her sister, Lois Gove and brother, Howell Hoy. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 30, 2014, from 11am to 1pm. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 1pm, with interment immediately following.
