She was born and raised in central Texas but moved to Houston many years ago to pursue a promising modeling career, she was a beauty. Her career was cut short when she met the ever charming Jim Hoyak and the rest was history. Except for a brief stint in Beaumont, the family was Houston based where Jim ran his oil company and other businesses while they raised their two daughters.
Susan will always be remembered for her generous spirit and love for her grandchildren. As a talented artist, voracious reader, avid collector, world traveler, and a student of history and archaeology, she had a larger view of the world. She loved to bake, her chocolate pies were a family favorite. Holidays were her favorite time of year, her home overflowing with decorations, baked goods, lavish meals and many gifts for the family.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 52 years, Jim Hoyak.
Susan is survived by her two daughters Leah Jones and Michele Kearns, her sons-in-law, Mr. Michael Jones and Dr. Richard Kearns and three grandchildren Ian Kearns, Kiley Jones and Conner Jones.
The family would like to thank her caregivers who worked tirelessly around the clock to care for Susan: Jeymi Martinez, Lisa Wiltz, Ketcha Ford and Kathryne Skinner.
She has been laid to rest at Memorial Oaks Cemetery next to her loving husband Jim.
