Steven J. Singer passed away on April 17th, 2022 after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He transitioned peacefully, spending his finals days comfortable and surrounded by the love of his wife, three children, and four grandchildren.
Steve’s 75 years of life began on November 14, 1946. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Steve attended Yeshiva of Flatbush and developed a love for sports: Yankees, Knicks and Giants. He served as an artilleryman in the U.S. Army from 1970-1976. His father, Alex Singer, always said, “You can never have too much education.” Taking this to heart, Steve went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from New York University, earned his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law, AND a Master’s in Business from Northwestern University. Steve loved the problem-solving the business world offered. He worked his way up the corporate ladder until he made senior partner at Deloitte, where he spent over 25 successful years. Steve was a tremendous asset to all those he worked and interacted with.
Steve’s career took him from his beloved Big Apple to the big oil city of Houston, Texas. Here, Steve settled down and began his biggest passion: his family. It was with his tenacity, hard work, and unconditional love that he provided for his loving wife, three kids and two stepsons. Thanks to Steve, his children would have every opportunity to succeed.
Steve spent his years in retirement focusing on the things that brought him the most joy: spending time with his wife Lana, his grandchildren, meeting with his friends, eating good food, drinking coffee, following the stock market, reading spy-thrillers, and watching Ancient Aliens and Die Hard (for the 400th time). Steve’s legacy is carried on by his wife Lana Singer, his daughter Megan (Collin) Mayer, his sons Andrew Singer and Michael (Leigh) Singer, his stepson Lance Thompson, and his grandchildren: Eli Singer, Ainsley Singer, Camden Mayer, and Weston Mayer (who was born five days before Papa Steve passed). Steve was preceded in death by his parents Alex and Idah Singer and his stepson Landon Thompson. As a CPA, Steve knew his family and friends were his biggest asset, we will all miss his love and support.
Visitation will begin at 9 am, memorial service at 10 am with reception to follow on Thursday April 21st at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home (13001 Katy Fwy; Houston, TX 77079).
