Steve, the sixth of seven children to Madeline and Remington Webster, was born on November 18, 1960, in San Antonio and was raised in Austin, Texas. He was a 1978 graduate of Anderson High School and attended the University of Texas in Austin, where he pursued a degree in both Finance and Real Estate. He began a family shortly thereafter with the birth of his son, Tyler, and daughter, Kendall. His career began around the same time, in Corporate Real Estate as a business developer in Houston, Texas, for SCI Shared Resources, LLC. It was there, that he began to grow his reputation in the industry.
He met his wife, Kristin, at Post Oak Ranch on January 14, 1993. They were married in Fredericksburg, Texas, on February 10, 2001, and went on to make their home in Katy. Together, their family grew with the birth of their son, Jake, and daughter, Madison. Steve worked for MetLife at first and found his home at SCI as the Director of Real Estate for almost 38 years.
Although his professional accomplishments were many, he will always be remembered for his love and generosity to everyone who crossed his path. His home was open to anyone who didn’t have a place to be or a friend to be with. His smile was infectious – transformed a room when he arrived. His heart was gold! He brought joy to all our lives.
We are sure that as Steve walked through the gates of heaven, the angels fired up their guitars for the first chords of George Strait’s song, “Check Yes or No.” Steve was the epitome of someone who worked hard and played harder. He was always down for a good time and was the ultimate host. He loved being surrounded by lots of family and friends, smoking sausage on the grill, and hanging out by the pool.
With a family divided between burnt orange and maroon, football season was never boring. During Longhorn’s offseason, Steve could either be found at the Texas coast, fishing or at the deer lease. He loved to go for long drives, stopping to smell the roses, and making pecan pies that would rival his mom’s.
A special energy surrounded Steve and everything he touched. He served on behalf of Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s steer auction committee, the Corenet, various lay leader positions at St. Peter’s Methodist Church, and any other charity that approached him and stated their cause.
Whether it was as Dad or Pops, Steve went above and beyond for his beloved children and grandchildren. He was at every event. He took trips with them, coached teams, and made each of them feel uniquely cherished. He never missed an opportunity to take pictures and loved to coordinate hunting or fishing trips with all the guys.
To wrap him up in a few lines is an impossible task. He loved big and gave every ounce of himself, never asking for anything in return. He always looked for a job to do and a chore to check off his list. In times of stress, he was always a steady ship on a rocky sea – never panicked, always steady. His loss produces ripples of pain, but his impact is an endless ocean of blessings.
He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Kristin; son, Tyler and wife Michelle; daughter, Kendall and
husband Jarett; son, Jake; daughter ,Madison; grandkids, Ezra and Liam; brothers, Mike and wife Donna,
Jeff, and Pete and wife Pam; sisters, Terry and Julie; and brother-in-law Bill Hartley. Steve is preceded in death by his mother, Madeline and father, Remington; sister Martha; brother-in-law Marvin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Therefore you too have grief now; but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will
take your joy away from you. John 16:22
