The son of Harry Roberts and Edna Wagner, Steve was born at home in Falmouth, Kentucky on September 10, 1951. He grew up in Falmouth and attended Pendleton County High School. He attended Morehead State University for one year before getting his degree in industrial engineering from University of Cincinnati in 1979. He moved to Houston and worked in purchasing and contracting for Grumman, Rockwell, and Boeing. In 1999, he decided to pursue his lifelong ambition to be an Interior Designer and received a degree from University of Houston. He worked as an Interior Designer until his retirement.
Steve loved to travel, and, in particular, cruising. He'd completed 69 cruises to various parts of the world, and especially enjoyed Rome, Barcelona, and trans-Atlantic cruises. His favorite island to visit was Aruba, which beckoned him with sandy beaches and blue water.
Steve's hobbies included interior design, cooking, gardening, model cars, and organizing parties - especially the annual Christmas Dessert Party. Steve's cherished cat, Tippi (Hedren), was an endless source of joy to him.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his husband, Rex Marzke, together 29 years; sister Patricia Webster of Falmouth, Kentucky; and brothers Mike Eagle of Walton, Kentucky, and Todd Conrad of Dallas, Texas. Preceding him in death were both his parents and brothers Jimmy, Greg, and Darryl, and sisters Kay, Sue, and Sherri.
A memorial service will be held at Heights Funeral Home, 1317 Heights Boulevard, Houston, on Saturday, June 18. A gathering will start at 1:00 p.m. with a short service at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Compassion & Choices or to a worthy organization that works with animals.
