Our dear “Daddy” and “Paw Paw”, Stephen Allen Irwin, age 69, passed away peacefully at his home on 10/27/18. He was born December 23, 1948, in Houston, Texas to Otha R. Irwin and Mary D. Irwin. He was a loving husband of 52 years to Veronica Sue Irwin and a wonderful father to four children.
Stephen was a master plumber and a member of the organization: “Plumbers Local Union 68”, eventually leaving to start his own business. He was the owner of “Stephen A. Irwin Company, Inc.” until his retirement. He worked hard for his family and instilled in his children, the principles for a great work ethic.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Otha and Mary Irwin, sisters Amanda Jo Irwin and Genevieve Kjellander as well as his brother Otha Irwin Jr.
He is survived by his wife Sue Irwin, daughter Rachel Woodward and husband James Woodward, Daughter Sheila Blavat and husband Todd Blavat, Son Stephen Irwin Jr and wife Tina Irwin, and son John Irwin, along with his sisters Nelda Mays, LaRie Hamilton, and Marie Lemoine, and brothers Robert Irwin and Andrew Irwin.
He was a devoted “Paw Paw” to his grandchildren, Joshua, Matthew, Bryan, Luke, Kelly, Julia, Samuel, T.J., Bo and Eric as well as his great-grandchildren, Ronni Sue and Melody.
He also leaves behind his beloved dog Dixie. He loved his dog and she never left his side even through his sickness.
Stephen loved many things in life, especially time with his family. There were many boating and camping trips to Lake Livingston with family and friends. He loved to travel abroad, Pompeii being his most favorite place. He loved parties and barbequing with family. He had a deep love for music and loved to dance with his wife. Most recently Stephen found himself involved with the “Houston Jeep club” due to his love for rock climbing with his beloved vibrant red, Jeep Wrangler, he dubbed “FireCracker”.
He will be missed greatly by family and friends. Until we meet again Daddy, we love you.
