Stephanie was charming, kind, fun, spirited, supportive, loving, and loyal. She enjoyed singing, dancing, talking with family and friends, laughing, eating her favorite vegan dishes, and simply enjoying life. She was the life of any event and always brought good energy.
She was a proud graduate of Ector High School in Odessa, Texas. As an Ector Eagle she exemplified her many talents by playing volleyball, running track, playing in the band, and twirling the baton as an Ector Eagle majorette. She was crowned as the homecoming queen at Ector High School during her senior year. She graduated from Ector High School in 1980 and attended The Prairie View A&M University where productive people are produced. Stephanie pursued a business and special education degree and graduated from Prairie View A&M University in 1985. She was a special education teacher for Houston Independent School District from 1986 until her retirement in 2017. She was a dedicated educator who cared deeply for her students.
She met the love of her life Bennie Roy Batiste Sr., who she later married on December 29, 1987. Their union brought forth three children, Tiphani, Brittani, and Bennie Batiste Jr. Her love for her family was evident in her role as a devoted wife and mother.
Stephanie’s joyful and nurturing nature extended beyond her family, as she was known as the neighborhood mom, bringing love and support to her children’s friends and anyone in her presence. It’s apparent that she made a positive impact on many lives throughout her journey.
Stephanie leaves to cherish her memories, her devoted husband, Bennie Batiste Sr., one daughter Brittani, of Houston, Texas, one son Bennie Jr(Candace Bennett). of Houston, Texas. One granddaughter Sydney Batiste one grandson, Braedon Batiste, her father, William McCoy of Houston, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.
Stephanie was preceded in death by her mother, Ida McCoy, and her daughter Tiphani Batiste. May Stephanie’s memory be cherished, and her legacy of love and support continue to inspire those who know her. May her family find strength and comfort during this difficult time, and may they hold on to the cherished memories of their time spent with Stephanie.
