Stanley Michael Naples, Sr. of Houston passed away peacefully on August 6, 2024, just three weeks before his 89th birthday. Born August 28, 1935 in the small mountain town of Salida, Colorado, he was raised and deeply influenced by his multi-generational family of Italian immigrants. His first job was delivering laundry off the back of a truck, and he loved it! His larger-than-life personality was marked by big dreams; strong Catholic faith; and great passion for family, friends and colleagues.
After attending the University of Colorado, Stanley worked for 14 years at North American Resources Company and became president of NAR's Tonkawa Refinery. In 1973, he co-founded Latina Oil Corporation, which at its peak was the fourth largest oil trader in South America. In the 1990s and early 2000s, Stanley served as a director of Channel Refining Company.
Stanley is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Nadine Naples, and his son, Stanley Naples, Jr. He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Naples and her partner Richard Yeary; sister, Arlene Naples; brother Alfred Naples; nephews and nieces, Bill Kellagher, Mary Kellagher, Shannon McNally, Claudia Lindstrom, Katy Kellagher, Sue Klug, John Myers and Dave Naples; and cousins, Mike Pavelka and Dave Amicone.
Stanley has been an active member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church since 1966 and proudly served as an usher for decades.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Stanley's life at a memorial mass on Tuesday, August 20 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 11720 Joan of Arc in Houston, Texas 77024. A reception will follow in the community center. Interment will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Stanley's memory to St. Cecilia Catholic Church or a charity of your choice.
