Sophia Lee was called to eternal life on Friday, June 24, 2022, after a battle with Covid and pneumonia. She also suffered from Parkinson’s for many years.
Sophia was born and grew up in Seoul, Korea. She attended Ewha High School and studied biology at Korea University. Sophia lived a long happy life, viewing the world and everyone in it as a joyful optimist. She brought much happiness to her family, friends, neighbors, and every person she encountered. Sophia was an eternal optimist and always saw the bright and shiny side of the world. She was always a positive, bright spot.
She came to the United States in 1976 with her husband, Seok Hwan Lee, and daughter, Gigi Lee. One of her first jobs was at Texas Instrument, and later Sophia and her husband opened Lee’s TV Service and were proud business owners until they retired in 2003.
Several years after her retirement, Sophia was diagnosed with Parkinson’s, but she never gave up on life. She turned to painting as a new hobby and passion – creating in her later years over 100 works of art, many of which were displayed at annual art exhibits and some honored with awards.
No matter how hard her battle with Parkinson’s, Sophia always pushed through it, with her fiercely devoted husband by her side, making sure she was living life to the fullest for as long as possible. We are eternally grateful for her husband’s strength. He literally added years to Sophia’s life, the love of his life. We will always remember Sophia’s smile and her perseverance. May a part of Sophia carry on in each of us as we honor her memory.
Sophia leaves behind her loving and devoted husband, Seok Hwan Lee, and her only child, Gigi Lee. Sophia is also survived by her brothers Pyung Soo Kim, In Soo Kim, and Young Soo Kim who reside in Houston, and many loving nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Sophia will be held on Thurs., June 30, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, Texas 77079, followed by a funeral service from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM.
