I always will remember Mr. Lew and the entire family. I lost contact with my host  family when I was in El Paso, Texas in 1976. The entire family were really my blessing from the Lord. So sad that just today I found them. I want to express my thanks to all of them. The entire family will always be my family in my heart. I hope I can get in contact with the family again soon to express my gratitude to them.  Mr. and Mrs. Lew's smile and encouragement will always be with me for my entire life. For Roberta and Mae, I hope we can be in contact again. 
Rest in peace Mr. Lew. May GOD BLESS and COMFORT all who are left behind.

I have often thought of Mr. Lew after all these years with great admiration. I was about 8 years old when he started driving me and my brother Ronnie to Sunday School at church in the late 1960s. I don't remember much about him except that he had such a joyful soul and wonderful family and, of course, shopping at his Ben Franklin store which was a real treat!

I thought about those happy childhood days tonight so long ago in El Paso for some reason, and did a Google search and found his obituary. So sorry to hear of his passing, but rejoicing that he is celebrating with his beloved Jesus and my dear mom whom I recall held the Lew family in high regard. 

Thanks in large part to Mr. Lew and the way he showed God's love so well, I became a believer and follower in Christ later in life. We will meet again- and rejoice forevermore! 

Dear Lew Family,

The last time I spoke with your father was at a wedding (Aimee and Wesley Yuan), and I can't recall when that was. I remember he told me, "Wm. it's the fourth quarter of my life, It's the two minute warning."  It struck me then, wow, what a brave man. At the time I was a bit unnerved about talking about death...but I am  encouraged by his faith and his ability to share that faith.

I remember Mr. and Mrs. Lew taking us to summer camp in Phoenix, and Hermano Lew got out his 'harp' and sung his testimony through music.

I remember back at El Paso Chinese Baptist Church that Mr. and Mrs. Lew led a small mission for many years.

I remember Mae and Roberta leading us in Junior Choir and Sunday School.

And I  remember the stories of Deming, NM. How Pancho Villa didn't like Chinese and Mr. Lew's father kept a couple of shot guns at the door, just in case, Villa came around.

This next memory is a bit rusty but Mr. Lew told me he came to know the Lord as his personal savior in his 40's, and at the time I just thought wow...I thank God that he did, because he has made such an impact in my family's walk with the Lord through his example.

Once our church in El Paso wanted to start a mission, and the Lew's faithfully drove my little brother and sister to the mission midweek (I was in Middle school and  regret to have missed out on hearing from and learning from Mr. and Mrs. Lew).

Back in El Paso in the Chinese Baptist Church in the back wall stand the photos of our former pastors and missionaries. I don't live there anymore but if I did I would start another row of portraits, of mighty men and women of God, and I would start that row with a picture of our beloved Deacon, Sinn Lew (that's Sinn with two n's).

Thank you for your faithfulness.

Dear Mama Lew and Family,

You and Papa Lew was the best Sunday school teachers.  Shao and I are so blessed to be taught by you both.  I have already passed down some of his teachings and stories to my  3 kids and friends.  Papa Lew's laughter and beautiful harmonica playing will always be cherish in my heart.  Papa Lew will be missed greatly, but not forgotten.  We are so honored to have known him.  Papa Lew is a man who loved Christ and always stayed faithful to Him no matter what.  What an example to follow.  Thank you Mama Lew and Papa Lew for being a part of our lives.

The first Christian, Chinese Texan that I met that put hot sauce on everything!  I still remember when he gave me my first taste (huge bag) of pinenuts from your El Paso store. Dear Mama Lew:

Papa Lew and you have always been a model of godly servant for me. Your drive to Northwest Houston Baptist Church each Sunday to teach our youths spoke more than words. Well, his stories were fascinating too.

Papa Lew was also an encourager. One time, as I was turning off the lights in the sanctuary after service and everyone gone, he snuck behind me and giggled: "I've done that before in my days, most people think that the lights at church just turn off by themselves!" 

I also wonder if any of our youths (adults now) learned the secret of catching sheepheads from Papa Lew. It has always been puzzling to me: how could he recognize the sheepheads?

Papa Lew is one of the peeple that I respect most sincerely. I am far away from Houston, but I will have a joyous reunion with Papa Lew some day.

It's so wonderful to see all the pictures!  Although I'm saddened to see Papa Lew leaves this world, I'm sure he's laughing and sharing stories with all of his fellow friends and family members who have gone heavenbound before him.  Someday, he'll be the first in line to welcome the rest of us.

It is great to see pictures of the Ben Franklin store that we always heard of in the stories Papa Lew told us.  He was an amazing man who taught me a lot about how to love God, to study the Word, and how to approach life with a laugh and a smile.  

I don't think I can ever catch a sheepshead or see Sea Wolf Park without thinking of Papa Lew sitting out there in his mission field, being not only a fisherman but a fisher of men.

Papa Lew and his indomitable spirit will be greatly missed.

Papa Lew, your students' hearts and minds will forever be filled with stories of Deming and Silver City, New Mexico, the "five and dime", Ellington Field, El Paso, the mementos that you brought to Sunday School class each week -- your flying pin and special coins, the yellow notepad that you filled with notes for each week's class, your infectious giggle, your hard-working tanned hands, your fluent Spanish, your soulful harmonica...but most of all, we will remember your great love for God's Word and for His children.  You are one of a kind.  You have lived a full and wonderful life and have inspired so many.  Earth will sorely miss you, but Heaven is so happy to embrace you!

I always remember the lovely music flowing from Papa Lew and his harmonica during some of the Sunday worship.  The Lord can enjoy you and your music in heaven.
