She was born in Enid, OK on March 24, 1930 to Ray and Gladys Crisman. She had 2 sisters, one older, Lottie Rae Crisman, and one younger, Jane Crisman. The family moved from Enid to Norman, OK when Shirley was in the first grade. She was always smarter than all the other children. Her second grade teacher suggested to her parents that she be moved up to the 3rd grade, but they disagreed, and Shirley stayed with the 2nd grade class.
Shirley graduated from Norman High School and went on to become a cheerleader at the University of Oklahoma. This is where she met an older classman, John C. Luck, Jr. who declared the minute he saw Shirley, that he was going to marry her. They met on a “blind date”. It was blind to Shirley, but not to John Luck. Their first date did not go well. But she wasn’t involved with anyone else at the time, and it was summer, so she had some time on her hands. And John pursued her pretty heavily. As they continued to see each other, Shirley began to enjoy John’s company more and more. And they were married that following fall, on October 20, 1950.
John and Shirley had 3 children, Jim, David, and Jere Ann. Shirley was a devoted wife and mom. She had a true servant’s heart, which was reflected in all that she did for her family. Shirley loved her Lord Jesus Christ first, but her family was a very close second.
After her older boys went to college, John started a company and was working on his own. He was very successful, and travelled the world with that company. Shirley joined John on many of his trips and bought beautiful artifacts from nearly everywhere they went. She enjoyed decorating the house with all of those treasures.
Shirley loved sewing. She sewed almost all of her clothes and her daughter Jere Ann’s clothes. She had a real talent where she could take various parts of different patterns and put them together to create an entirely one of a kind piece of clothing. She and Jere Ann enjoyed working together on these creations.
Shirley was an avid bowler. She bowled in a league for years. She made lots of friends and was an excellent bowler. She was also a championship gin rummy player. She taught all her kids the strategy of playing and how to win.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, her husband John, and her older sister, Lottie. She leaves behind her sons Jim Luck and his wife, Denisa Llamas Luck. Jim’s children; Jared Luck and his wife, Kelley and their 2 daughters, Emma and Bailey, Jamie Luck, and Joshua Luck, her son David Luck, his wife Laurie and their three boys, John Luck, his wife Mary and children David and Abigail; Larry Luck, and Randy Luck and his wife, Emily and 2 daughters, Margaret and Molly, and her daughter Jere Luck. She is also survived by her sisters’ children and grandchildren.
