Shirley Jo Watson Crenshaw of Houston, Texas ran into the loving arms of Jesus on August 23, 2023. Born July 20, 1935 in Dallas, Texas, daughter of Wally and Betty Watson, she was 88 years old. She was, and still is, one special lady, loved and respected by everyone who ever met her, always having a smile and laughter, bringing joy to any situation. Shirley's first love was her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a member of Champion Forest Baptist Church for over 35 years.
Shirley worked as an administrative assistant in the oil and gas industry, and for Enron for 16 years. For her efficiency and exceptional organizational skills, she was a highly valued contributor.
Shirley, very competitive, didn't like losing. She enjoyed playing bridge and dominoes; in her younger years, she was quite the ping pong player. She loved all sports, forever cheering on the Astros, Oilers, Texans, and the Houston Rockets. She delighted in watching her grandchildren play sports. She also loved her trips to Brenham, where she enjoyed rooting for the Brenham Cubs and Washington Little League teams, antiquing, and spending time in the country. A pristine gardener, she had a marvelous green thumb, and her flowerbeds were filled with beautiful plants and flowers she loved tending. She had a natural gift for decorating, and her home was quite festive during the holidays. Most of all, she loved her family more than anything and was always willing to give of herself.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, eldest son Wally Clint Crenshaw, sister Virginia Lee Melville, and brother-in-law Harold Melville, Jr. She is survived by her four children, Clifford (Kippy) Alton Crenshaw (Kim) of Brenham, Texas, Kelly Lee Uehlinger (Neal) of Katy, Texas, Kathy Lynn and Kayla Beth Crenshaw of Houston, Texas; Grandchildren, Solomon and Noel Crenshaw, Brandon Zimmerle, Brady Summers, Kyler (Kelsey) and Colin Crenshaw, and Natalie Milligan; Great grandchildren, Riley and Avery Crenshaw, and her nieces and nephew, Lea Melville, Jenifer McIntyre, and Mark Melville, and a much beloved Persian cat named Toby, who is 21 years old and still lives with her family.
Service will be held in the chapel at Champion Forest Baptist Church (Champions) Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at 10:00 AM with reception following; officiated by Pastor Jarrett Stephens. Graveside service will be held at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery; officiated by Pastor Brent Johnson.
