Sharon was born in Peoria, Illinois to Raymond and Kathryn (Freepartner) Davis on July 21, 1940. One of six children, she grew up in Peoria, and attended The Academy of Our Lady high school. She moved to Ohio in 1969, settling in Concord Township, where she raised two sons, Brian and Eric. While there, Sharon worked 26 years for Towmotor Corporation, a subsidiary of Caterpillar Tractor Company.
Upon retiring she pursued her passion for gardening by attending Hixson’s School of Floral Design in Lakewood, Ohio. She also worked for a number of years following retirement at Borlin Greenhouse and Flowers, a nursery specializing in the production of orchids. She was definitely blessed with a “green thumb” and her house and yard reflected that with a large variety of plants and flowers.
Sharon moved to Richmond, Texas in 2021, where she was able to enjoy gardening year-round, along with the new challenge of trying to garden in hot humid Texas weather. She enjoyed playing in her flower beds, meeting her new neighbors and making new friends in Texas.
In addition to gardening, she loved spending time with family. She would often travel great distances to be with family for holidays, special occasions or in times of need.
Her parents taught her a great love for the outdoors, fishing and camping. She especially liked being at the seashore or on the lake. With two boys of her own, Sharon grew to love a variety of sports, played golf and nurtured by her father, was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan. Blessed with a good sense of humor, she enjoyed playing games at holidays and family gatherings, and especially liked Canasta.
She was an avid reader and loved watching movies and reading stories about Texas Independence and the Old West. In fact, the frontier spirit of Texas perfectly fit her strong independent spirit.
Most importantly, she loved the Lord with all her heart. She found peace in studying the Bible and memorizing Scripture, particularly the Psalms. Always ready to share a prayer and a kind word, she was caring and generous. Her “Light” shown brightly for all to see. The world will definitely be a little darker now that she has been called Home to the Lord. She’s dancing with Jesus now!
She is survived by her two sons, Brian (Dale) of Houston, Texas and Eric (Jenny) of Palatka, Florida and her granddaughter Emily also of Palatka, Florida, along with her sisters Diana (Phil) of Mapleton, Illinois and Lisa of Urbandale, Iowa and her brother John of Phoenix, Arizona, along with beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Kathryn, her brothers Fred and Raymond and her grandson Kyle.
