Sharon Lee Stephenson left us on December 29, 2020. Her body eventually failed but her spirit never faltered. Sharon touched countless lives as a spouse, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, friend, coworker, caretaker, and plenty of other roles she willingly and cheerfully filled.
Sharon was never a malicious person and put others first, probably to a fault. Sharon spent many years providing amazing care to her daughter, Robyn Joy Smith. She helped support her son, Rob, while he was in college at a time when she was struggling herself. Sharon closely watched over her parents as they aged, taking them to doctor visits, cooking for them, and generally making sure everything was going well in their lives.
Sharon helped and provided for many people outside her family as well, including people who would never be able to repay the favor. Especially those people. She welcomed people in situations where they did not know anyone. She had a gift for making people feel comfortable, even though she was in orthopedic pain for most of her life.
Sharon was born on September 12, 1950, the first child of parents John Taylor Moore and Reva Elvira Moore. Sharon is survived by her husband of 27 years, David Stephenson, son, Rob Smith, mother, Reva Moore, and siblings including David Moore, Daniel Moore, Richard Green, and Marie Hetmaniak.
Sharon loved to read, liked to travel when she could, and especially loved family gatherings, which included anyone who wanted to join the fun.
Many people pass through our lives but few touch us in memorable ways, ways that make us feel loved. Sharon will be missed and loved every day. She was a real life hero, demonstrating that “success” in life is not measured by what you get, but by what you give to others. We can best honor her life and memory by appreciating the immediacy of life, and living with true empathy for others.
