Sharon Williams Stanford, lovingly known as Mom and Meme, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2025, on a beautiful spring day. Born on May 1, 1943, in Houston, Texas, Sharon lived a life full of energy, love, and joy.
She is preceded in death by her father, James L. Williams, Sr.; her mother, Modena Williams; her sister, Valery Valles; her brother, James L. Williams, Jr.; and her grandson, Daniel Weber.
She is survived by her husband, Ray Stanford; her children Donita Barrow, Charlotte Pye (Joe Pye), Lisa Collier (Patrick Collier), Chandra Gonzales, Hank Woolery, and Shelly Mushinsky (Jason Mushinsky); her beloved grandchildren Kristyn Johnson, Kelsey Dixon, Cassie Cole, Katie Stewart, Haley Simmons, Kendall Murski, Brooke Weber, Lexi Weber, Cameron Woolery, Brittany Martin, and Emily Duncan; and ten cherished great-grandchildren. Sharon is also survived by her “buddy” and partner in crime Michelle Woolery, her lifelong friend Joyce Martin, along with many more treasured friends and family.
With a young soul and an adventurous heart, Sharon was always on the move—her bag perpetually packed for her next outing or getaway. She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures: tending to her garden, crafting needlepoint blankets for her grandchildren, fishing, and indulging in a good meal—especially shrimp, or as she charmingly called it, “srimp.”
A devoted mother of six, Sharon somehow managed to keep both her home and her car impeccably clean, all while cooking and baking for her large circle of family and friends. Her love extended far beyond the kitchen and garden—she had a special fondness for visiting casinos and enjoying the thrill of travel.
She had a deep faith in the Lord, which guided her through every season of life. Her trust in God was a constant source of her strength, resilience, and peace.
Sharon was also the heart of countless funny, spontaneous, and unforgettable stories—often the center of the laughter herself. Whether it was her quick wit, her sassy comebacks, or her knack for getting into hilarious situations, she brought joy and humor wherever she went.
Sharon’s presence brought laughter, love, and light to every room she entered. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched and the memories she leaves behind.
