Dr Sekili was a great doctor. I worked for him for 3 years. He was a very kind man to me.  I’m so sorry I missed this service. I’m still in shock. May God bless his family in Jesus Christ name

I am deeply sad to learn of the passing of Dr. Sekili. We knew each other while  he was a practicing cardiologist at West Houston Medical Center many years ago. He made a meaningful impact on the medical community.He will be missed.

I played ultimate with Selim in the late 80s. My favorite thing about my old friend and teammate was that his name spelled backwards is “I like smiles.”

In times like these where it’s hard to smile about anything, that puts a smile on my face. Thanks, Selim, for the great parting gift.

Selim Sekili played Ultimate at U of Illinois. He was one of the most genuine human beings that I have ever known. I used to tease him that he was going into Cardiology because he had such a big heart for others.  He was a good listener, an encourager, a great athlete, a smartie, and a wonderful friend. He instilled confidence in me as I was finding my way freshman year of college. Years later,  grad school in France for me and Med school for him, we caught up. I was looking for what "stateside" me would be/do, and he said, "You should go play with Nemesis, the Chicago Women's team". Oh! So I did. And 33 years later, my Ultimate career continues. Beyond our Christmas greetings, we touched based only once or twice in the past 15 years... and still I will miss him.  I learned yesterday that he had passed away May 19, 2024 in Houston, where he worked and lived.  He's in my Hall of Fame forever. My heart goes out to his beautiful family., his friends and his staff and colleagues.

So sad to learn of his passing. He was one of the few doctors I truly had faith in his words.

Dr Sekili was my Doctor for over 10 years years. I also was his employee for 10 years. Dr sekili was an awesome physician. He was a perfectionist, kind,sweet & humble to me. He was my cardiologist for over 15years,  The first time he saw me was in the emergency room.  He was the greatest cardiologist and very strict.  He kept me on my toes.   My you rest in peace.

I'm deeply saddened to hear of this news. Recently I was visiting Chicago and helping my mom clean her house. My father,also named Selim , passed away in 2018. My parents would take us children to the Turkish events and celebrations when we were young. This picture I found and I remember being so touched by his presence even as a young girl when I played piano. His kindness and loving spirit remains with me today from those events and celebrations we attended. My condolences to his family for their loss.

Condolences to the family of Dr. Sekili. He’s been my husband’s and my doctor for over 25 yrs. I’ve always teased him that he was still a baby when we first met him and we’ve grown old together.  Dr. Sekili had always been kind, thoughtful and gentle in our consultations. He was almost a friend. Today was truly sad day when I saw the obituary and shared with other friends who were his patients too. But I also know that my husband will probably be one of those who will greet Dr Sekili in heaven. Rest in peace, Dr Selim Sekili.

Dr. Sekili will always be remembered as a gentle soul, a very good cardiologist, who spoke often and well of his cherished wife Lydia and their two adorable and smart daughters. I had the privilege of working with him for many years. He will be sorely missed. Sorry that I am  out of the country and will miss his memorial service.

Such sad news of Selim's passing. He was a tremendously kind, gentle and loving man. There are so many memories I cherish...when Selim met Lydia, watching their family grow, an interaction with a feisty parrot, and others. The world is indeed a less bright and beautiful place.
