Two vivid memories of Scott: the first was at the bike racks at Parker Elementary with his long hair and denim jacket. What year was that? 1975? He was the coolest kid around. The second was at Johnston Junior High School in the locker room after swimming and he let me have it good for getting water on the floor near his locker. Scott, I deserved it. 

I still haven't found what I'm looking for.  But think of you often.

Scott is frequently in my thoughts, but I missed his birthday this year and that bothers me. When I received notice that his web page might expire I wanted to take another look. I was happy to see all the new comments and pictures. Each of us deals with loss in a unique way and sometimes the ability to move further forward is important; so I didn't want to take for granted the web site would be available in the future

Scott marched to the beat of a different drummer, but made each of us feel welcome. I can't tell you how I looked forward to the all-night poker games. I could always count on seeing old friends and meeting new ones. When I heard the news about Scott I couldn't believe how directionless I felt. Then it dawned on me I have a compass and Scott is a point on that compass. Our lives criscrossed so many times and it always felt as if no time had passed.

Scott and his family are such a large part of my life and I love them with all my heart.

I scattered rose petals on the track where you rode with joy so many times and where your ashes are spread.  I released a balloon in your honor but it is stuck in a tree that overlooks the track.  I miss you every day and I know your spirit is near and watches over us all.  You made a positive difference in so many lives and you are so loved by so many.  Your good influence is an inspiration to us all. There is a plaque at the track  attached to a tree near the pavilion in  your honor,  There is a void in the places where you were, but I know your spirit remains. I met Scott through his father Barry when he was a young teen.  I will never forget him.  He was a charmer with a wonderful personality, much like his father.  He was such a happy guy.  It breaks my heart that he is gone and has left his family who miss him so terribly.  My heartfelt sympathies to those who will forever miss him and the joy he brought to you in his short bright life.

Happy 50th Birthday to my precious brother.   Words can never describe my grief since you left us.  You were loved by many and we all cherish our memories of you. I just received a notice that there was an update to Scotts guest book and the all the notes warmed my heart!  To think that my brother sent flowers is awesome and amazing! even though i diden't keep up with SCOTT through the years i very often think of him now,i really wish that i would have stayed in touch,since SCOTT went up to the motocross track in heaven i have now gotten in touch with alot of my old buddies & that is a direct result of what happened to SCOTT ,i thank him for that!even in his passing he helped me,WE had ALOT of good times together that i will cherish forever.GOD bless all of ya'll.charlie

I often think of Scott as well.  I miss him and am saddened by the thought of not being able to talk to him.  My entire teens are filled with things that Scott and I did.  My sons are all in Jr High and High school, and I tell them stories about things that Scott and I used to do when we were thier age. (well, not all of them).  It still makes me laugh to think of all the fun we had.  My best to Tracey and Troy and the rest of the family.  Bingo

I had the pleasure of knowing Scott.His non-stop enthusiasm made life more exciting.His company was unequaled for the joy he gave.

I am so sorry to learn of Scott's passing. He designed and constructed a beautiful piece for the entry of my home in West U in 1994. It has moved to Tennessee and recently to Austin but remains a focal point. After a visitor to our new home commented at length about the beauty and quality of the woodwork couple of days ago I went looking for  the Blackwoods web site and discovered his obituary.  Scott will always have a place in our heart and home.

I was so shocked to find out about Scott's passing.  Scott was my first date ever when I was 15 years old.  I swam every day at Parker Pool where he was a lifeguard and one day he introduced himself and asked me out on a date.  He was so sweet and was a perfect gentleman.  He came to my house and introduced himself to my parents and then proceeded to take me out to dinner.  We ended up at his parents house playing pool and listening to Jackson Brown.  It was a magical night for me.  I was fortunate enough to be at the Black Swan about 10 days before his passing and he and I recognized each other 31 years later and we hugged,  laughed and visited about old times.  We promised to keep in touch.  I was shocked to find out that he passed just 10 days after our visit.  My thoughts and prayers are with his family.  We were all so very lucky to have known Scott.....

I texted Scott today.  I will never forget his cell number.  It used to light up my life when it came up on my phone. When I did not get a text response, I looked him up on the Internet to try and find his number and I found this obituary.  It shocked and saddened me. I had some truly good times with Scott.  I remember our times together and he truly will be missed.  Condolences to his family.

My most profound condolences to Scott's family.  I was so fascinated by his wonderful furniture and had hoped to own one of his pieces.  I saw one of his dressers many years ago in Houston and was blown away by his talent.  I just now learned of his passing.  Again, my sincerest condolences.

No words can begin to express my sympathies for you, your family and all of Scott's friends and loved ones.  Scott was a dear friend of my brothers (Chap) and he spoke of him with great love and admiration. I remember hearing stories about the blue "bug", Across the Street, "poker nights at the Black's" and Blackwood Furniture.  I remember him as the "hunk" that was a year ahead of me. I hope that everyone will remember that every joy in life is a gift, as evidenced in the many loving comments, and that Scott touched many lives.  I encourage every one to remember the things that remind you of Scott, and as you move thru life and recall these memories, that you stop, pause, reflect, and truly appreciate the gift that Scott gave to you - LOVE, LIGHT, and LAUGHTER.  I wish you all peace.

I was sitting on our sofa tonight staring at the beautiful piece of furniture that Scott created for us many years ago. I don't know what sent me to my laptop to do a search and find out what he was up to today. I have stared at that piece every night  for years. His work is so incredible and so many people comment on the pieces he has created for us. I was shocked and deeply saddened to see this.

Tony and I know Scott from the Alabama Ice House in Houston. He was always the life of the party and made everyone laugh. He is one of our best memories of fun times in Texas. funny, happy, exciting, full of joy....we are glad we were able to know him.

I am just so sorry to hear about Scott. He was just such a great guy. I will miss him terribly and I know my friend and colleges who knew here at the City of Alvin will miss him too...Blessing to Barry and all of his family and friends.

Barry, Lois, Tracey, and Troy, I just heard about Scott's passing and I'm deeply saddened. He was my oldest friend and we shared a lot together. I remember chasing him as a school guard at Parker Elementary because he wouldn't stand in line. I remember he got me my first job at Across the Street restaurant and we would drive to work in my blue VW. I remember the famous poker games at Barry's and being so impressed when Scott started Blackwood. However, his greatest impression was the love for his family. It started early when I heard him say, "I love" to Lois when we left the house on Hummingbird (no one did that), and I remember how often his love and respect for Barry kept us from doing something we probably shouldn't. Scott was a long and close friend and my life will be lonlier without him. Please accept my sincere condolences.

I knew Scott in Junior High School,we went to SWTSU and then ran into him again years later at a little cafe around the corner form his wearhouse. Scott was a great guy, he had the best snese of humor,always made me laugh,   adventerous, passionate and honest. I had not seen him for about ten years but never, ever stopped thinking about him. He had an impact on my life in that way. I always hoped I would see him again. When we were kids he saved me from a bunch of bullies that had me crying. He made sure I got in my mom's car safe and sound.He was my hero at that moment.  When I ran into him years later we found we connected on many different levels and I always had a blast when we would get together to have a lot of laughs and fun! He was so alive, handsome and a really dynamic personality. I too loved him and will never forget the look on his face when I actually shared this with him. He was just loveable and handsome and easy to love. I am deeply sadend that his life was cut short so abruptly. I wil always feel a deep connection for the times I shared with Scott. He gave me some great memories that I will contiune to hold onto. He was a really special and gifted guy. I also know how much his family and parents meant to him. Even when we were young he felt a deep commitment and love for his family and friends. He always new the right thing to do.
The world will miss him.

I am completely shocked to have learned that Scott had passed away. To his wonderful family: I once loved him more than anything in this world and have so many loving memories of a beautiful man. He is one of those people who are truly beautiful on the inside and out. He taught me so much about life and how to get the most out of it. We had not seen each other for many years but we always loved one another. The love we shared never dies. Heaven has probably gotten a lot more fun now. See you in heaven Scott.

MOM'S FAREWELL TO UNCLE SCOTTY

Uncle Scotty's passing has left a huge hole in all our hearts and lives.  Scott is not just my son......... he belongs to all of us.  He had a positive effect on everyone.  He lived large and always had a happy disposition.  He was always adventurous and curious; supportive and generous.   When he was a little boy, he would never step on a bug or kill a caterpillar.  He put them in jars, punch holes in the lids and give them food.    Summers were spent catching frogs, turtles, and whatever he could find in the ditch behind our house.  He would come in for lunch after a morning of catching frogs and turtles and be so excited about his "catch".  Adventures were found biking through the neighborhood with his friends.   

They took their bikes apart and connected them together and had a bike train.  Scott came running in the house to get me to take a picture of their finished product.  I still have it.  His most favorite activity was "popping wheelies" on his bike.  I have those photos too.  I'm sure he was preparing himself for the skills needed to become a motocross rider!!

When the summer was over and the Westbury pool was drained, he and his friends would climb the fence and skate board on the curved walls of the empty pool.

More recently, after Ike stormed through, he took his chain saw and helped his neighbors with their broken limbs and did what he could to assist in the clean up.  He brought me his generator so I would have electricity and called everyday to make sure I had what I needed.  He also did this for the all of his friends and family.  Where there was a job to be done, Scott was the first one there.
 
I am so grateful he didn't suffer for a long time.  He left us suddenly and went without fanfare.  I know he wouldn't want us to remain sad.   I know he wants us to celebrate his life.  Let's all try to fill the hole he left in our lives with love.....love that he so taught us by example.   If we all commit to give of ourselves the way he gave of himself, the world will be a better place.  His example of living is like a pebble in a stream..... ripples going out everywhere.........spreading love and goodness.  What a legacy he left us.  Let's pass it on.   

 I am filled with gratitude that God gave me the privilege of being his Mother and entrusted me with his care for the years he was my child.  He is free of this world now and after his spirit has comforted us all from above, we can release him to do whatever wonderful things that have to be done on the other side.  We're all in good hands with Scotty as our Guardian Angel.  And when we say "beam me up Scotty" it has a new meaning!

May God give us all courage and grace as we process this transition to a world without Uncle Scotty.  The love, laughter, generosity, charity and memories of the fun times we each shared with him will be woven into the fiber of our being; each one a different pattern.  He will welcome each of us some day.  What a happy reunion!!

Hug your kids and each other....tell them you love them every day.  Scott lived each day to the fullest.  He was like a comet racing through life with sparks flying in his wake!    He crammed 80 years of life into almost 47.  I know his spirit is here with us.  

 Thank you, Scott for being my teacher.   I am so proud of the way you conducted your life, with love and grace.  You made good choices.  I love you and I miss you.  Send me a butterfly.

We met Scott 4 years ago, but felt we had know him much longer.  We were lucky to have him for our neighbor in the Heights and he quickly grew into a very dear friend.  He touched our hearts in many ways, always kind, always open and full of life.  He was an absolute joy to be around, just an outstanding person on so many levels. Tracey's Tribute to Scott

When I sat down to write a few things about Scott, I wasn’t quite sure where to start or where it would take me. I wondered how I would perform the task. With a heart so full of grief and shock, and a mind filled with so many cluttered and confused thoughts, I did not know how I could get it all in with this brief tribute. I have accepted the fact that I cannot, and somehow I think you all understand that.

I have searched for the words to describe what Scott was to me and I am flooded with beautiful memories. He was my best friend, my confidant, my biggest cheerleader and supporter. He was the voice of reason; my therapist, someone I could go out with and get a little rowdy. He was wild, hysterically funny, loyal and he helped me pick up the pieces when I fell apart. He was my touchstone. I never had to explain anything to him, we grew up together and he just knew. He knew everything about me and he still loved me and his actions proved it every day. He was a compassionate sounding board without judgment. He lit up a room when he was in it and made you feel like you were the most important person in the world when you were with him. He really was the 6th member of our family and the most devoted uncle I have ever known of. I know this kind of closeness is rare, but it was our normal. We got each other. We shared the same demented, sarcastic, wry sense of humor and exercised it often. Our father, as well as many of you, has had many a prank pulled on you by us but it was always done in fun. When we were together we could be double trouble. We tested the limits with our parents and grandparents.

Scott called me simply “Sister”. Scott became “Uncle Scotty” on December 5, 1990 after Tom and I had our first child, Carson. He was absolutely enamored with our son and marveled at the creation of life. He was a changed man forever. Devoted all the more each time we brought new life into this world. He made it a priority to be a present, positive force in his niece and nephews lives. He loved and adored them and the feelings were mutual. I take great comfort in knowing that each of our children had a close and independent relationship with Uncle Scotty and have memories of him that will last a lifetime. He made an indelible imprint on their heart and in their souls. Tom and I have been blessed with 3 wonderfully different, awesome kids and they are that way partly due to Scott’s influence.

 Scott and I were a born a mere 17 months apart and when we were young children, we fought like cats and dogs. When we were very young, I saved my baby brother as he bit down on a juiced up extension cord. We could only guess that this was to be the first in a long line of injuries for Uncle Scotty. As we grew older and things in our family changed, we became each other’s rock. We trusted one another and we relied on one another. A bond had been created that would only grow stronger through the years. We shared the same friends hung out together and had a blast being teenagers together. We gave our parents plenty to worry about. As Tom and I are now the parents of 3 teenagers we have since learned that paybacks really are hell. Some of you will remember the pool party that Scott and I had. We sent out invitations inviting all of our friends to come and party by our new pool. Imagine the guests surprise when they showed up at our house with bathing suits and coolers filled with beer only to find Scott and I with rubber duck tubes around our waist and a blow up pool out on the deck. We could not believe that we pulled that one off! Our all night poker parties were legendary with Dad always sending everyone home with some form of breakfast and returning their keys finally sure that they were sober enough to drive home. 

We went to different colleges, me to SFA then to The Art Institute of Houston and Scott headed to Southwest Texas State University. It was there that Scott met many of his life long best friends. Many of you are here today. While attending SWT, he worked construction. He was able to juggle school, working, partying and chasing co-eds while maintaining a decent grade point average. He loved college. Scott was passionate about his friendships and as most of you can attest to, he was a loyal and devoted friend. He was a blast to be with and made the most mundane activities fun. He was mischievous and witty, hilarious and crazy as hell. He was spontaneous, loveable and undeniably charming. 

To try and define this man’s character in so few words is impossible.  He was a person of integrity and honor. His word was as good as gold. He was generous and gave of himself always. These are qualities that Scott possessed even as a child. He was a selfless giver. He treated others with respect and dignity. He loved with his whole heart and he adored his family and friends. He had a love for life and lived it full throttle. He was passionate about The Ride for Kids and gave of his time repeatedly. He was an accomplished motocross rider always challenging himself to improve his skill. His appetite for fun, risk and spur of the moment exploits were legendary. He was a man of stellar integrity. We were all blessed beyond measure to know him. He knew he had one spin on this blue marble and he made sure his counted for something. He changed the world and it will be a lesser place without him. 

I came across a card Monday that Scott had sent to me at a time when I was having a rough go of things. It was a very sweet card with a beautiful message, but I kept it because of what he wrote to me. “Sister, I am so very proud to have you as my sister and I find your courage inspiring.” That evening I received an email from Pete referencing something that Scott had written several years earlier after one of his leg surgeries. Someone had sent him the following inspirational quote:
“Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage.” 
In response, he wrote:

Ladies and Gents,
I received the above quote a few days ago from a close friend after my latest leg surgery. It made me feel good, but the more that I thought about it the better it made me feel. The deeper its’ meaning sank within my soul. I have expanded it a bit. I’ve interpreted it into what the idea means to me. I wonder, do you feel anything like this?

I feel that true courage is deep, quietly running with the still waters within us. Very much the core strength we find within ourselves only when life throws its’ curve balls our way. In these moments, we can choose to shrink (fear), or expand (exhibit courage) to meet the challenges presented to us. In accepting our life’s challenges, we inevitably will walk ourselves, barefoot as we are, across the searing coals of fear and pain, only to emerge on the other side. Stronger, freer, closer to whom we are ultimately destined to be at this life’s end.
Courage is one of our more valuable qualities. Often times, I think I have little. Those we love and who know us well show us we have within us all we will ever need.

I find these words of his speaking so clearly to me now. I do not know why this curve ball was thrown to us. This is a challenge I never dreamed we would face. We were all going to grow old together. That is how it was supposed to happen. His death leaves a void within me that can never be filled. But I feel him pushing me across the searing coals even as I speak. He would want us all to emerge on the other side stronger. I do not know who I will be after meeting the challenge of a living a life without Scott in it, but I will remain hopeful. I know he will always be with me guiding me and loving me through my journey cheering me on from the other side. I have so many memories of him as my inspiration.



My entire family wishes to thank Three Palms Extreme Sports Park for their willingness to allow us to send Scott off in the way he desired, to Pete Sullivan for more than we can ever say, and the many friends who have reached out to us, fed us, consoled us, ran errands for us, and moved mountains for us. Please stay close to us as we need to be with people who loved Scott as we did. 

I love you Scott you made my life beyond fun and I will miss my partner in crime forever. I know you are among good company, but until I get there, save me a place next to you. In the words of one of your heroes:

Connor's Letter to Scott
Dear Uncle Snot,

I still remember the first time that I ever rode a dirt bike. I was sitting on the bike holding on to the handlebars for dear life. You were sitting right behind me. I was so afraid especially when you popped a wheelie. But I knew I was safe and that you would never let me fall.

As I got older, you began to teach me how to do some cool things. You showed me how to ride a 4-wheeler and a dirt bike and you tried your best to show me how to do a back flip off of the rope swing. All of the things are dangerous but you would always make sure to teach me the rights and wrongs so I wouldn't get hurt. This past year, you showed me how to install a surround sound system, how to build a tool shed and how to fix holes in the wall the professional way. One of your greatest qualities was your neatness and care for perfection. By example, you showed me that if I am not pleased with something that I should try to fix it, and keep working on it until I am satisfied with my work.

I always liked how you would compliment my progress on guitar and how, one time, you called your friend to tell him that I was going to be a rock star and let him listen to me play. You were always so surprised at how quickly I learned to play the guitar; mostly, when you taught me how to play Blackbird, by The Beatles. To this day it is my favorite song to play. I remember you spending hours with me helping me in anyway to learn Blackbird so that I could play it at my Grandmother's funeral last September. So, I think it is only right that I should play it for you today.

I would always look forward to seeing you during the holidays because you would always bring your love and fun into our family and make our occasions more memorable. I have memories from every Christmas and Thanksgiving that I will never forget. Like the Thanksgivings that we would have at Grammy's house. When I was little, you, me and Troy would play hide-and-seek and when I was "IT" I could never find you because you would get on top of the garage and yell down to me. There was the Christmas at my house when I got a skateboard from Nana and you showed me how to ride it. I could have sworn that you were secretly a pro skateboarder. Or the year that I got a drum set and you showed me how to play my first beat.

You always seemed to know everything. From fixing up a home to playing a musical instrument, you knew how to do it. You taught me so many things that will help me in life. But the most important thing was how to treat others, especially women, and the importance of helping others. Every time you were around and I had done something wrong, you would quietly pull me aside and politely tell me what I should do to fix it. 

You helped so many people in your life and I never heard you speak of it. You were so modest and humble. You didn't believe in getting recognition or rewarded for helping. You helped people just for the sake of helping others; because it was the right thing to do.

You were a great man who left an imprint on me that will last forever. I will never forget you.

I love you Scotty Boy and I can't wait until I see you again in Heaven.

I was friends with Scott and Tracey back at Johnston Jr. High and Westbury High.  I use to ride my horses home and we would run the neighborhood.  We also did some of the motor cross back than.  He will be missed.  My prayers are with his family

Our condolences to Scott's family. We are both the same age, and motorcycle enthusiasts and collectors, and 
though we only recently met Scott we enjoyed his manic good will, infectious energy and good humor; a couple of months ago he hid behind a tree in my yard during a conspiracy in which he and my wife surprised me with the secret purchase of one of Scotts motorcycles which appeared by itself mysteriously in my driveway as a birthday gift.

I was fortunate to meet Scott, thru his involvement with the annual Houston Ride for Kids event, where he consistantly did whatever he could do to raise money in some very unique ways, to help find the cause and cure of childhood brain tumors. His enthusiasm and smile were contagious. Scott took amazing care of Garrett, one of the Ride for Kids brain tumor survivors, who rode with Scott in his sidecar every year. We were all privileged and honored to share Scott's friendship and he truely made the world a better place to be.

"Uncle Scotty" was/is an amazing man that you only had to meet once to realize you were his friend no matter what...  Based on all the messages I have read, this statement stands true to everyone he touched.  The motorcycle industry lost a great person, however the whole WORLD is missing this great man.  If more people were like our "Uncle Scotty", our world would be a much better place...  Thanks for everything you were in life that inspired so many people to want to be just like you.  You will be missed by all until we meet again.

A great friend in college and an incredible furniture artist.  He always made me laugh and feel the joy in life when we were together.

Still can't believe you are really gone. I was so shocked when my mom brought me your obit on Tuesday when I came back in town.  Haven't seen you in forever but still remember you from school, you were never forgotten. You always had a smile on your face and was always so friendly. I never forgot that about you, your personality!! You were an amazing person Scott Black!! You will be truly missed. My heart goes out to the Black family. You are in my thoughts and in my prayers. From all the many, many guest book entries I think you know just how truly your son touched so many lives.

My heart is very sadden to hear about the death of your son, Scott.  Although I am not around the Black family, you are all in my heart and always will be.  My prayers are with you and my memories with me.

We are so shocked and sad to hear about Scott.  He was an incredible person with a special energy and heart.  We have too many good memories to count.  College would not have been the same without him.  It definitely would not have been as much fun!  He has touched so many people's lives and we are blessed that he was a part of ours.  Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones.

Scott built a dresser for my son when he was just a little boy, about 15 years ago. He graciously agreed to modifications to his design to enlarge the drawers and change a detail to the treatment of the top. The result was beautiful and Charlie still uses it today. I recall how politely and readily he agreed to accomodate our request and how pleased he was they we were happy with the result. I will now think of him every time I place my son's clothes in that dresser. He was a gentleman and a wonderful craftsman. Please accept our sincere condolences for your loss.

We remember Scott from our visit to his workshop to pick up the rocking horse he made for Claire in 1991.  His concern for our loss of Chris was quite obvious. We deeply appreciate all the support your family gave and continues to give to Kay and Claire. We know Scott will continue to help others in the next life and he will be close beside you in these difficult days.

Barry, I just read all of the guest book entries about Scott and wow did he make an impact on a lot of people.  I hope it gives you comfort to know what a great job you did as a parent to have a son that meant so much to everyone he met. Love and prayers to you and your family.

I have known Scott since we played baseball together on the Eagles at Westbury American Little League.  Since I can remember, Scott always had a smile on his face.  He enjoyed life whether we were winning or losing.  It was always great to be around him.  He touched so many people.  He will be truly missed by all.

I knew Scott in College (SWTS).  It's been a long time since we have seen each other.  Scott always was the brightest presence in our group.  Everytime we were around him we were happy and having a great time.  He has to be the wildest and craziest person I have known and from what I have read this is true for all of us.  Thanks Scott for all of the memories.  The world was a better place with you in it.  For Scott's family I'm sorry for your loss.  Hopefully you can find peace in all of the memories that he has left us.  For those who remember his college days..I'm sure he's jumping off the cliff at Hamilton's pool right now in heaven.

Scott lived life to the fullest.  We had some unbelievable times growing up and after our college years.  Scott never met a stranger.  He always had a passion for everthing he did.  He will truly be missed.  My thoughts and prayers are with all the family and all of your friends.  Thanks for the memories.

Goodness gracious Barry.... Our encounter with Scott was memorable, but not nearly long enough.  Laura, my wife, accidentally discovered Blackwood about a decade ago or more, and was affected by Scott's talent and craft.  And somehow in that first meeting they figured out that there was a connection 25 years earlier between Scott's dad and Laura's husband.  Although Laura never met you, she knew that Barry Black played a big role in my life.  Needless to say, that meeting led to a beautiful Blackwood masterpiece in our home that included a fun long visit wtih Scott.  He so obviously loved life and had it all together.  

Clearly, Scott left us too early.  But based upon our experience and the writings by all the others here, he clearly lived life to the fullest and very positively affected many more than most that live twice his years...

last time I saw scott was about 34 years ago we had lots of good times like putting a big bore kit on his SL70 I think it was his 1st bike,going to beachhouse, skateboarding,making things blow up,gettin drunk for our ist time,sorry mom & dad,MAY GOD BE WITH ALL OF SCOTTS FAMILY

Lois, I read about your son's untimely death this morning in the paper.  I was so sad to read the news.  I remember all the times you would talk about your children when we worked together and how proud you were of them.  From reading all the entries in the guest book, it is easy to tell that Scott was an amazing man, a testament in large part to you no doubt. I just can't even believe it.  I always thought Scott had nine lives! So brave and adventerous and living life to the fullist.  I have some very fond memories of Scott.  I used to ride my "Huffy" to his town house behind the Handy Andy, if any of you remember that.... it was a long long time ago!!  I knew Scott before my brother (Mark) and Tracey even dated!!  We go back a long way!  Scott was also my buddy in college at Southwest Texas State which of course is now Texas State.  He had a car and drove me anywhere I needed or wanted to go, what a true friend he was to me.  I will miss him dearly!!  God Bless you Scott!

Dear Barry--the hardest thing for a parent to go through is for a child to pass before he does. You love all your family and I have always admired the respect and love you have for each other. Scott was a free spirit and he loved life and he had a good life---that is more than a lot of people can say. I have been with Enbee Co., Herman and Nell, Scott, Tracy, Troy and you since 1963. Scott is with his family in heaven now.  He is free.

If the measure of a man is the love of his family, the admiration of his friends, and the respect of his peers, then Scott was a giant.  I don't believe there was ever a time I saw him that he didn't have a smile on his face and I know he was responsible for many smiling faces in this world.  I know those smiles have been replaced by tears but I can only pray that your loving memories ease the pain in your heart.  He may not be with you in this world anymore, but he is all around you now, in the air you breath and the sunlight on your face, and when you look into the night sky, perhaps they are not stars you see, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down to let you know they are happy.  Our thoughts, prayers and love are with you all.

It was years since I had seen Scott when I ran in to him and we talked to about his new business Blackwood  ...that was several years ago. 
I’m sorry to here about Scott. It appears he certainly has left a good legacy and planted seeds for others to follow his lead…

I felt a hole in my heart when I heard about the loss of Scott.  Although I had not seen Scott in about 25 years or so, just seeing his name brought back fond memories. Scott was always in a great mood, full of energy, a great friend, and made sure everyone around him was having a good time.  One of a kind.  He was part of what made Westbury High School a great place to be.  He will be truly missed.  My prayers and condolences are with his loved ones.

Wow, I am just in shock... Scott and I had been friends for a long time.  I have so many funny warm memories of Uncle Scotty. I can still see his crazy smiling face and remember the many times he made me laugh until I almost peed. We sure had some a lot of fun.  I will miss you Scott.

 My heart aches for you as I remember all of the times you spoke with such love and  affection and expressed motherly pride in Scott's adventures.  I vividly recall you being thrilled by a prayer stool and china cabinet Scott made to exactly suit both your needs and decorating style. Please give me a call when you need a listening ear.

We've had the joy of knowing Scott for many years, since he was a student at Southwest Texas State University. Scott had a love of life, and a love for his friends and family that is an example for all of us. We also will remember Scott for his attitude to older people. We will miss him.
