Sarah Joe Phillips, 72, loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, successful Professional Business women who touched the lives of many, entered into eternal rest on February 19, 2011. She was born on November 3, 1938 to Carl R. Townsend and Zeola Z. Townsend in Meridian, Mississippi. She married Joe Wayne Phillips on June 29, 1956 and later moved with her family to Houston. In 1968 she started a Prosperous Private Bookkeeping and Tax Service Business; earned her Enrolled Agent and became very involved in progression of Enrolled Agents State wide. Sarah was an avid advocate on a State and Local level for the Education and advancement of Enrolled Agents and of all Tax Preparers; along with the Texas Association of Financial and Tax Specialists (TAFTS) organization; was Co-founder of the Peoples Houston Chapter and held the Legislative Committee Chair for TAFTS for many years. She served as a liaison for the IRS and the Tax Preparer community, even volunteered her time in free Tax Preparations for the Public. Sarah was a member of and involved in Champion Forest Baptist Church for many years. She will be missed by many from her Professional family, Church family, and intermediate and extended family. Her memories will be cherished by her loving husband of 54 years, Joe Wayne Phillips; children: Bruce Wayne Phillips and Michele Renee Phillips; grandson, Jordan Wesley Seifert; brother, Carl R. Townsend; numerous Nieces and Nephews, Aunts and Uncles, extended family and friends.
