Santos G. Herrera, age 73, of Houston, Texas passed away on May 29th, 2024. He was born on December 15, 1950 as the only child of Josefina and Alfonso Herrera. He was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas where he met his wife, Ana Herrera when they were in the 6th grade. Santos served his country with pride as a member of the United States Army. This enlistment in 1969 would begin his lifelong desire to serve others.
Throughout his life, Santos was devoted to his family. His willingness to help and do for others were evident when he would simply offer to give a neighbor a ride to the store, sit and visit with a sick friend, or help anyone with a home improvement project, without ever expecting anything in return. Because of his selfless ways, he was loved and respected by so many.
Santos and Ana were married on July 15, 1971. He enjoyed traveling and going on cruises together with his wife, whom he had been married to for 52 years. He loved his family very much, with his whole heart and his family loves him. He was a great husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, grandfather-in-law, and great grandfather. He was always there for them and he made sure they knew they could depend on him to be there whenever needed.
Santos is preceded in death by his youngest son, Santos Herrera, Jr. He leaves behind to treasure his memory his wife, Ana Herrera, his daughter Josie Arredondo and husband David, his son Samuel Santos Herrera and wife Marie, his daughter-in-law Abigail Herrera, his five grandchildren, Leandra Desiree Olvera and husband Ariel, David Arredondo, Jr. and wife Destiny, Jazzett Isabella Herrera, Samuel Santos Herrera, Jr. and Xavier Elijah Herrera, his two great grandchildren Ava Camila Olvera and David Arredondo III, and many extended family members and friends who will miss him so.
A Visitation for Santos will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Prayer Service and Rosary beginning at 6:30 PM at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038.
A Visitation will occur Thursday, June 6, 2024 starting at 9:30 AM at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 19222 Tomball Parkway, Houston, TX 77070 following with a Funeral Mass that will begin at 10:30 AM.
The Committal Service will be following the Funeral Mass at 12:30 PM at the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038.
A Reception immediately following Graveside services will be held at the Fr. Ryan Stawiasz Community Center, Prince of Peace Church Campus.
