Sandra Vega Gonzalez peacefully departed to her heavenly home, just as the sun was setting on Tuesday, April 9, 2019. She spent her last hours surrounded by the presence of her loving family and their prayers.
She is survived by her mother, Maria Magdalena, her sisters, Laura and Sylvia, four children: Christian, Valerie, Brittney, Alexander, and her only grandson, Giancarlos. As well as her nephews: Christopher, Devin, Andrew and niece, Crystal, along with many close family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Valdemar Vega, and her father Luz Gonzalez.
She will live on in our hearts, and we will never forget her immense joy, her love of God, and self-sacrificing character. Her contagious smile will be forever engraved in our hearts.
Sandra Gonzalez was born on March 15, 1962 to Maria Magdalena Elizondo Villarreal and Luz Gonzalez Garza in Houston Texas. She grew up in the Houston area and graduated from Barbara Jordan High-school. Shortly after, she met Valdemar Vega who would later become the love of her life. He sent her flowers for an entire year prior to confessing his love to her. They married on March 1, 1986, and had four children during their marriage. As a strong woman of faith, they ensured that all of the children receive a Christian education. One of her life’s goals was to ensure that they were all educated. Later in 2005, as fate would have it, her husband passed away. She persevered in raising her four children by running the family’s business. Through various trials and hardships, she remained strong. She was beloved by the local community and remained a widow for the rest of her days. There are many qualities that could describe her, the ones that stand out the most are: loving, kindness, dedication, faithfulness, considerate, and perseverant. She was also a loving daughter, who was devoted to caring for her elderly mother.
She is someone who has a very strong faith. Her faith is inseparable from her personality and character. She loves many Psalms, some of her favorite describe God as being everywhere and inescapable. “If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast” (Psalms 139:9-10). She saw God as her Heavenly Father, Shepherd and provider. Despite her illness, she continued to trust God whatever the outcome. Her heart remained victorious in Him. Her dream was to help establish a small church community and outreach to the elderly.
We thank all for the love and support and prayers during this difficult time.
