Sandra Dean Carter was born on March 6, 1948, in Crockett, Texas, the first of seven children born to Reverend Ollie and Gladys Sapp Neal. She grew up in Houston, Texas, was baptized and accepted Christ at an early age. One of her many favorite Gospel songs was “Amazing Grace” – sung by Aretha Franklin. Life moved on and she attended Phyllis Wheatley High School. Later in life she advanced her education at Houston Community College and then achieved a BS degree in Accounting from Texas Southern University, and went on to work as an Administrative Manager for ADT for seven years and retired from Invesco Investments in Atlanta, Georgia on November 11, 2013 after fifteen years of loyal service as an Accounts Payable Specialist. After some health issues 2014 she moved to Savannah, Georgia to live out her remaining years with her son and daughter. She was married to James Turner in 1966 to which this union two sons were born: Darryl L. Neal and James Turner, Jr. This marriage ended in divorce in 1976. And she married again to Junius P. Carter in 1992. This marriage also ended in divorce in 2000. Sandra Carter enjoyed spending her time knitting, sewing, watching old westerns, shopping on QVC, reading her Bible Study lessons, doing brain stimulating activities like Suduko, and her Adult Coloring Books. Sandra Carter departed this life on Monday, January 8, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gladys S. and Ollie Neal; two brothers Stanley Neal, and Jeffery Neal; two sisters Renee Neal Hailey and Sharon Ann Neal. She leaves to cherish her memory: sons Darryl (Gail) Neal, and James Turner, Jr.; brother Kenneth Neal; sister Ivory Neal Crampton; her favorite Aunt Evelyn Harris- “Annie”; three grandchildren: Durryl Davis Neal; Carmen Deann Barrett, Karmen Leann Barrett; and three great grandchildren: Devin Issac Lopez; Natalie Amelia Lopez, and Kaiden James; and a special beloved family member: Mother Adrena Carter, her log-time best friend Shirley Charles; her adopted sister Gloria JB Jenkins, and a host of other beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. I have fought the good fight. I have finished my course. I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day. II Timothy 4: 7-8a
