Samuel Preston Walker Sr. was born July 12, 1943 in Dallas, Texas to the union of the late Reverend Willie Walker Sr. and Mrs. Lucille Walker. Samuel was educated at George Washington Carver Elementary, Jr.High and High School in Garland Independent School District. As the son of a preacher man he could always be found in church. At the tender age of 16 he decided to surrender his life to Christ and chose to align his service with the doctrine and beliefs of the Church of God in Christ. Upon graduation from high school, where he was named valedictorian of his class, Sam made a decision to relocate Houston,Texas to attend Texas Southern University. This decision not only resulted in a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education but it also led him to meeting the love of his life, Sandra Joyce. On December 17, 1966 they were joined in holy matrimony. After graduation Samuel tirelessly served the Houston Independent School District for 32 years. While working he received numerous accolades and awards for his commitment to his students and the communities he served. In September 1961 Samuel joined Williams Temple C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of Bishop Robert Earl Woodard Sr. He faithfully served his church in several ministerial organizations such as: Deacon Board-30 years Assistant Finance Chairman-20 years Finance Chairman-15 years Board of Directors-15 years Trustee Board Member Male Choir President Sunday School Teacher/Supervisor He leaves to cherish his legacy of excellence his lovong wife of 48 years Sandra Joyce Walker; two faithful daughters Sherry Ramsey(Paul); Kimberly Walker;three dedicated son Preston Walker(Marishca); Barbara Valentine(Isaac); Arthur Walker;thirteen grandchildren Brian, Paul, Alicia, Brittany, Briana, Joshua, Zion, Caleb, Jahi, Josiah, Zaire, Judah, Hailey; ten great grandchildren; three godchildren RaShonda O'Bryant-Brown(Corey); Amber Hurts(Maurice) and Briana Pringle; and a host of relatives and friends.
