Sam Koster, beloved husband of Ann Johnson Koster, passed away on April 11, 2024. He is survived by
sister-in-law Danna Piazza and brothers-in-law, Albert Piazza and Charles Richard “Rick” Raleigh and
nephews Stephen and John Raleigh and cousins Charles Mintzer and Susan Rein. He is preceded in death
by parents, Rebecca and Nathan Koster and sister-in-law Betty Raleigh.
Sam and Ann were married on May 6, 1984. He was an avid collector of mineral specimens and enjoyed traveling. He loved sports of all kinds. He was born in Newark, New Jersey on September 25, 1940. Sam graduated from Berringer High School in Newark. He graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Geology degree and a Master’s degree from Florida State University in Tallahassee. He worked for Shell Oil Co. for 7 years as a geologist and 20 years at Amerada Hess Cprp.
Private burial will be held by the family and a Celebration of Life at a future date.
