Sampat’s working life was spent in India, Bahrain (where his beloved daughters, Maya and Lara, were born), England, and the US. In the US, Sampat worked for Deloitte serving most recently as the National Managing Director for Consulting’s Energy & Resources Practice. He also served on the Deloitte Consulting Executive Committee, and on the board of the Deloitte India Joint Venture. Sampat enjoyed fishing, and cycling and was instrumental in building Deloitte’s Houston MS150 team to raise money to fight Multiple Sclerosis. He loved listening to music of all types, as well as good food and wine especially when accompanied by great conversation from those he loved. Sampat travelled extensively for work and pleasure and, this past summer, spent a magnificent summer vacation on safari with his family in Tanzania. He also enjoyed special one-on-one time with his daughters while driving them to and from their activities.
Sampat was most passionate about spending time with his wife and daughters. In the last week of his life, he was visited by his and Bernadette’s immediate families as well as many friends from across the world and the US whom he regarded as close as family. They made sure that Sampat was never left alone, day or night, while in hospital in that last week. His return home on the eve of Thanksgiving was a joyous one and he spent that last evening surrounded by love and laughter.
Sampat’s family is grateful for the wonderful care and kindness of the doctors, nursing, and other staff at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Their dedication to helping make him comfortable while he was a patient there was outstanding. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made in Sampat’s name to MD Anderson Cancer Center.
