Sam Howard Hughes, II

Mr. Sam Hughes II, of Houston, TX, passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at the age of 44. Sam was born to parents Sam and the late Patricia Hughes on February 22, 1974 in Houston, TX. He grew up as the eldest of four children. In 2001, he married Araien Perkins and the couple had one child Sam Hughes III. Sam was a devoted son, dependable brother, faithful friend, and loving father. He had a passion for music and helping others. His community service activities were coupled with him being a Mason and member of Hiram Lodge No. 162 AF&AM affiliated. Sam was suddenly called from labor to refreshment on May 16, 2018. He is preceded in death by his mother Patricia Hughes, uncle James Beckley, uncle Wayne Hughes, grandfather George Hughes, grandmother Lillian Outley and grandmother Ivory Broussard. He grew up in Houston, Texas and graduated from Jack Yates High School in 1992. Later he attended Prairie View A & M University where he studied communications. He attended Word of Grace Baptist Church for years but united with Spring Antioch where he served faithfully in the sound ministry until his health failed him. Sam, leaves to cherish his memory, his son Sam Howard Hughes III, his loving father Dr. Sam H. Hughes; one sister Sandy Ward & husband Greg Ward of Houston, TX; two brothers Scott Hughes of Houston, TX and Stacy Hughes & wife Natasha of Houston, TX. Sam is also survived by his fiancée Marla Johnson a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
