Paula, I was saddened to hear about Sam's passing. He was always kind to me and a joy to be with. I will remember him fondly. I was and still am in Argentina or I would have told you this and more in person. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you.

I met Preston in 1987 as a member of my Maverick class with the Tejas Vaqueros and, thereafter, on an annual basis got to know Sam.  He was one of the "greats" who always added to the spirit of the Trek and the friendship shared by the participants.  He will be greatly missed.  Vaya Con Dios!

So sorry for your loss.  May the many wonderful memories you have of Mr. Douglass comfort you during this difficult time.  He was a true scholar and a gentleman.

Paula and Preston - I am so sorry to hear of Sam's passing. I have so many great memories of working with him at Whiskey Canyon. Paula, we will never forget the Blue Norther just hours before the big Brangus sale. I also loved shooting Sam on Chi Willy. I am sorry that I will not be able to attend the Service but you both and the old " Vaquero" are in my prayers and best wishes. Bill West

I worked for Bob and Sam from May 1966 to June of 1971.Sam was a very bright mentor,teaching me that there was always a way to consummate a transaction.I loved Sam for many reasons ,one of which was his incessant energy level,amazing.
