Ruth Smith

was born March 3rd, 1927 to George and Nola Smith in Madisonville TX.

For over 60 years Ruth was united with Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Sayers; late Pastor A.A. McCardell; late Pastor Charles Jackson. She continued her Christian Service under Pastor Sheldon Jackson. She was a faithful member of the Sunday School of Adult Women Department and she supported all the ministries of the church.

Ruth was known for her industrious spirit, she was a full time mother, grand mother, house keeper and property manager until the day she died.

Ruth departed from life on March 30th, 2021, and is preceded in death by her parents George and Nola Smith; brothers, Rodney Manning; Claude Lathon Smith; Eugene Manning; George “Jake” Smith; and sister, Thelma Wilkins Smith. Along with other aunts, uncles and nieces and nephews.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son James Nauls; adopted sons, Sonny & Malcom Gerber; god sister, Mary Canada; Grand sons, Joshua Nauls (Jillian); Michelangelo Smith (Yuko); Great grand children, Kennedy Copeland and Ty Copeland; Cousin, Bertha Mack; with many more nieces and nephews among others who fondly called her; “Scooter”; “Baby Ruth”; “Grandma Ruth”.
