She was born to Charles H. and Ella Boehm in Neche, North Dakota, and was engaged to her high school sweetheart in McAlester, Oklahoma. She was married for 63 years to the late George F. Russell, who died in 1998.
While Mr. Russell was a professor at Oklahoma University, Mrs. Russell was a member of the Faculty Wives and became an avid OU football fan. After moving to Houston in 1947, she was active in the Women’s Auxiliary of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in West University Place, and later at St. Philip Presbyterian in Houston.
She is survived by her son, Robert F. Russell and wife, Kathy, of Amarillo; her daughter, Carolyn Ortegon and husband, Robert, of Houston; granddaughter, Betsey Reed and husband, Nigel, and their son, John, of Plano; and granddaughter, Keri Foos and husband, Troy, and their sons, Nick and Aiden, of Amarillo.
Mrs. Russell was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Ralph, who died at 95; and her brother, Lester.
Special thanks are given to Drs. Patel and Bui, and the staff of Park Manor of South Belt, who cared for her the final 11 years of her life.
A funeral service is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, the 30th of January, in the Chapel of the Oaks Mausoleum at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Freeway in Houston, where the Rev. Donald G. Black, Pastor of Visitation of Trinity Lutheran Church, is to officiate. Prior to the service, during the one o’clock hour, the family will receive friends during a visitation in the mausoleum chapel.
