Ruth B. Garcia, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2025, at the age of 93, surrounded by her loving family in Spring, Texas. She was born on October 22, 1931, in Bryan, Texas, to Alfonso and Maria Rita Aguirre. Ruth was the youngest of eight children and cherished her upbringing in a close-knit family.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, seven siblings, three husbands, and her son, George Enriquez. She is survived by her daughter, Esther Dollins (husband Sam), son, Martin Borquez, and son, John Enriquez (Betty). Ruth was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren: Kelley Harshaw (husband John), Natalie Gilliam (husband Chris), Raquel Enriquez, Rose Enriquez, Belinda Enriquez, and Andrew Enriquez. She was also a devoted great-grandmother to nine, including two namesakes, Elizabeth Ruth and Olivia Ruth, who will carry her memory forward.
A matriarch to a large and loving family, Ruth was known for her unwavering devotion to those she loved. She spent most of her life in Spring, Texas, where she created countless memories with her daughter, son, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Family gatherings, weekend dinners, and countless celebrations at Esther’s home were cherished moments that will forever be remembered.
Ruth was also an avid lover of life and enjoyed many weekends at her lake house in Livingston. Whether cooking and feeding her family and friends, sitting on her porch swing with a cup of coffee, or relaxing by a fire, Ruth found peace and joy in spending time with her loved ones. Her vibrant sense of humor, quick wit, and candid nature made her a delight to be around. She was always ready with a clever one-liner or to speak her mind, making everyone smile.
A woman of deep faith, Ruth was a long-time member of Saint James Catholic Church and, in her later years, a devoted member of Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church. She was an active participant in the Young at Heart senior group, where she enjoyed supporting the church with fundraisers, playing bingo, attending dances, and traveling in fellowship with her friends.
Ruth’s life will be celebrated at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home on Saturday, January 11, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by funeral services at 11:00 AM, gravesite burial at 12:00 PM and a reception immediately followowing at 12:30. Ruth’s memory will live on through her family, friends, and all those who were touched by her warmth, humor, and love.
She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May she rest in peace.
