Rudolph Rivera was peacefully called home to our Lord on Sunday, March 31, 2019 surrounded by loved ones at the age of 70. Known by many as Rudy, and “The Kid”, he was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He can be described as loving to all and respected within his community & church.
For 35 years, he worked as an auto mechanic at Sears before retiring, only to continue his passion and start his own business in 1984 Rivera’s Automotive. Being a mechanic became his hobby where he continued to work on vehicles from home. He opened a club named The Tiger club in the 80’s. Some of his favorite things were, spending time with family, playing poker where almost everything was a wild card, going to the casino, deer hunting, collecting antiques, going to pawn shops and garage sales. He owned a 1977 Monte Carlo that was his pride and joy. He was a dedicated fan of the Houston Texans and Houston Astros. His favorite Texan player was JJ Watt and Astro’s player Alex Bregman. He was a handyman, creative when it came to projects. He loved telling jokes. He was a sharp dresser, down to his Stacy Adams shoes, starched Levi jeans and his hair that had to be combed to perfection. He loved taking road trips and having family gatherings at the house. Some of his favorite foods, hamburgers, ground beef tacos, and meat loaf. He took pride in the appearance of his yard and the cleanness of his vehicles. His favorite holiday was Christmas, he would go over and beyond on the decorating. He would tell Vanesa, he was doing it for the grandchildren. He enjoyed watching shows such as Pawn Stars, hunting, fishing and western, action movies. His favorite arcade game was the claw machine that he enjoyed very much and was so determined to win something every time. He liked to be outside working around the house, with the music blaring, he always kept himself busy. His favorite music artist was Elvis, Selena and he liked to listen to Tejano and oldies music.
Rudy, was a unique, giving, caring individual and he touched the lives of all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pablo and Guadalupe Rivera, brothers, Ralph and Gilbert, and sister, Diana.
He is survived by his wife & best friend of 20 years, Vanesa, his children, daughters Lisa & Rolando, Monica & Anthony, Erica & Vincent, Beatrice & Jacob, Valeria & Belin, sons Rudy Jr. & Carolina, Jose & Letchia, , 21 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, siblings, Michael, Paul, Mary and Rose. Rudy will also be forever remembered by his extended family and dear friends.
Rudy was a strong, yet kind man. We are all thankful and blessed to have known him, but know that he is rejoicing in heaven with his loved ones.
