For Sister Ruby Ruth Potter Jones, the sun rose for her on May 22nd, 1923, to Rilla Parker Potter and John Potter in Koran, LA.
Ruby was a woman of God. And accepted Christ at an early age. She gave her life to Christ as a doorkeeper for the Lord over 30 years ago and was baptized at Waterloo II Baptist Church in 1933 in Taylortown, LA. Years later in 1969, she moved to Houston, Texas in Acres Homes, joined First Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Thornton where she served, Later she moved to Rushwood Neighborhood and united with Greenspoint Baptist Church where she served and was Mother of the church until her health failed.
She met and later married Milton Jones Sr. on December 24, 1937, and to this union 6 children were born. As Ruby continued to grow, her humor, smarts, and beauty flourished. She saw a need to educate herself, so she went on to night school at Adult Education Program, achievement on April 19, 1966. Ruby worked many jobs, including Caplis Plantation in Bossier City, LA. Then moved to Houston where she worked at Piccadilly Restaurant, Houston, Cafe, and M.D Anderson Hospital until she retired.
As Ruby awaited eternal life, she was preceded in death by her husband, father, and mother. As well as 1 son, 2 grandchildren, 5 sisters and 6 brothers. In God’s own way and for His on purpose, God called her from labor to reward on Tuesday, September 14th, 2021, at 4 in the morning. She leaves behind to continue his legacy and cherish her memories; 5 devoted children, 2 daughters, Doris Jones of Houston, Texas, and Rilla Guillor (Johnnie) of Tomball, Texas, 3 Sons, Jack H. Jones Sr, and John Jones Sr, both of Houston, Texas, Milton Jones Jr. of South Korea, 1 God son Elijah Wilkerson (Sherlia) of Shreveport, LA. 25 grandchildren, 43 great-grand children, and 48 great-great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-great-grandchildren. 3 loving sisters; Annie Lafitte, of Shreveport, LA. Rose Potter and Helen Potter both of Dallas, Texas and 1 brother, John Potter of Sacramento, California. As well as a countless number of nieces, nephews, cousins, a host of friends, and her Greenspoint Baptist Church family.
