Ruby Ann Joffrion, 93, entered into eternal life on Monday, August 6, 2018. She was preceded in death by Horace Joffrion, her husband of over 49 years and a brother, Paco LeBlanc. Ruby is survived by her son Cliff and his wife Cindy; daughter Margaret von Sehrwald and her husband Uwe; grandchildren Detlef and Bjorn von Sehrwald; brother Allen LeBlanc; sister Eulalia Authement and her husband Russell; sister Claire Wipple, numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
Ruby was born in Chauvin, Louisiana. She graduated from Terrebonne Parish High School in 1942. She attended Mercy School of Nursing in New Orleans, Louisiana and became a registered nurse. Ruby went on to work in various facilities, including Mercy Hospital in New Orleans and Sam Houston Hospital in Houston, Texas. She moved to Houston in 1964 with her husband and two children. When her children had grown, Ruby enjoyed traveling overseas and spent time in Hamburg, Louisiana. She was a member of the St. Jerome Catholic Church community for over 54 years and was active in the senior group.
In her later years, Ruby enjoyed sewing, crafts, reading, and spending time with her two grandchildren, family, and friends. Throughout her life, she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many. Ruby had an unwavering determination and started each day with plan and purpose. She was a loving mother and friend to many. She will be dearly missed.
Family and friends gathered and shared memories of this wonderful woman during a visitation from 3:00 until 5:00 pm on Sunday, August 12, 2018, in the chapel of Waltrip Funeral Directors in Houston, Texas, where the Rosary, led by Deacon Dan O'Dowd, was prayed at 5:00 pm. and where a reception followed the Rosary, at 6:00 pm. The Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10:00 am on Monday, August 13th at St. Jerome Catholic Church, also in Houston, with Reverend Monsignor Dan Scheel as celebrant. Entombment followed in the Oaks Mausoleum at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
