Ruby Ann Darnell, 87, passed into eternal rest on June 20, 2021. She was born December 22, 1933 to parents Ann and Jack Kelley. Ruby started her family at the age of 16. Being in retail management for Southern Sales and Academy Stores was where she spent most of her working years. Ruby also drove for The Commission for the Blind for several years and after retiring she was a Metro driver for a few years. Continuing to learn and be active, at the age of 86, she learned to kayak and loved it.
Ruby is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles Darnell, and great-granddaughter baby Gracie Martin. Left to cherish her memories are daughters Sherry Purswell, Debra Hobbs, step-daughter, Ada Darnell; son, Doyal Rice, step-son, Vernon Darnell; grandchildren: Jim Martin, Brian Barker, Brandy Snyder, Kelly Barker, Melanie Rodriguez, great-grandchildren: Thomas Martin, Delanna Martin, Hailey Barker, Hanna Barker, Heidi Barker, Zachary Barrios, Arianna Barrios, Noah Rodriguez, sisters: Jackie Welch, Betty Michand, and brother Jay Kelly.
A visitation for Ruby will be held Monday, June 28, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Kingwood Funeral Home, 22800 US 59 North, Kingwood, Texas 77339. A funeral service will occur Monday, June 28, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 22800 US 59 North, Kingwood, Texas 77339. A graveside service will occur Monday, June 28, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Brookside Memorial Park, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, Texas 77039.
