She committed her life to Christ in July of 1953. Ruby graduated from Merryville High School in 1948. After graduation, she moved to Houston where she met her husband of 49 years. She was married on August 26, 1950 and had 2 children, Lynnda and Rhonda. Ruby devoted her life to her daughters and husband as a homemaker until her children began school. She took great pride in sewing all of the clothing for her daughters and planning well balanced meals for the family. Ruby served in their church by teaching preschool at Thomas Avenue Baptist Church. As her children grew, Ruby went to work as a part time crossing guard police officer and later worked as a secretary at the City of Houston in the electrical division. As she aged, her grace and beauty only increased. She was adored by all of her grandchildren.
