

Funeral services for Rubio Cisneros, 95, of Houston, Texas will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, January 27, 2023 at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas. Interment will follow at Houston National Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10:00am, Friday, prior to the service.
Rubio Cisneros was born on April 20, 1927, in Cedar Bayou, Texas to, Elias and Ophelia Cisneros and passed away peacefully at the age of 95 years old on January 10, 2023 in Houston surrounded by his loved ones. He was the 2nd born of 6 children. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He was a loving husband, companion, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great - great grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, mentor and friend to many. He never met a stranger and enjoyed many social events and activities. He enjoyed family get togethers, barbequing and never had a bad day on the golf course, just ask his nephews. He coached the Rubio’s Ruby’s softball team was a member of Rusk Athletic Club, Pan American Golfers Association and American Legion Post 560, he also loved going to the casino’s and playing blackjack for hours. He owned many businesses and establishments including Rubio’s at Allen’s Landing, The Inn, Rubio’s Icehouse, Leland Night Club and The Last Concert Café. Rubio had a passion for music and wasn’t a stranger to the dance floor. He had a giving heart and it wasn’t unusual for him to volunteer to cook, hold a fundraiser, teach, mentor, or help out others in any way, shape or form. He worked many years in the autobody industry and in his later years worked merchandising for Garcia Chorizo and serviced all the HEB stores in Houston and the surrounding areas.
Rubio is survived by his brother Roy Cisneros and wife Alice; 4 sons Robert Mossberg; Lionel Cisneros, Russell Cisneros and wife Patricia, Rubio Cisneros and wife Tina; 6 daughters Gloria Moreno and husband Robert; Diane Villarreal and husband Daniel; Brenda Migl and husband Ken; Deborah Gonzales and husband Vincent; Denise Sanchez and partner Celia Villagomez; Vickie Dodge and husband Greg and his longtime companion Mary Chavez. He also leaves behind 20 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Drusilla (Alice) Cisneros; brother, Gene Cisneros; sister, Aurora Gallardo; sister, Angela (Kina) Rendon; sister, Elia Villareal.
Rubio will be escorted to his final resting place by pallbearers: Juan Cisneros, Aaron Cisneros, Elias Cisneros, Aaron DePaolo, Jake Sky-Eagle, Evan Cisneros, Clarisa Garza and Adrian Moreno.
