Born on November 20, 1933, in Columbus, Arkansas, to Roy Walker and Mamie Woolsey,
Roy was predeceased by his loving wife of 25 years, Tommie Leine Walker, son, David Edwards, brother, Marshall Walker, and sister, Emily Levy.
He is survived by his wife, Pat Walker of 22 years, sister Opal Kohler, son Jason Edwards (Krystal), stepsons, Kevin Reinecke (Angie) Craig Reinecke (Amber), and grandchildren, Cody, Dylan, Kimberly, Alex, Ashlynn, Logan, Mason, Sydney, and Grayson. He also is survived by his great-grandson, Ethan.
After Roy graduated from Alvin High School in 1952, he answered the call of duty and served his country with honor in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, demonstrating courage and commitment throughout his service as an aircraft mechanic.
After his military service, Roy worked with his father in construction and traveled a lot. He then went to work at McAvoy, Reed Roller Bit, USI, and eventually Brown & Root where he dedicated 18 years as a millwright and then retired early to take care of his wife.
Roy was an active member of Cypress Methodist Church (CMC), where he attended the Crusaders Sunday School class. He was also a member of the Men's Roundtable, enjoyed playing dominoes (88) at CAPS, and volunteered at The Angel House.
Roy will be remembered for his gentle spirit, warm smile, and subtle sense of humor. He had a diverse range of interests and passions, including travel with the seniors from church on bus trips, bluegrass music, Dr. Pepper, strawberry ice cream, and especially peppermints. His favorite TV show was Cheyenne and the movie, Shane.
In honor of Roy's memory, the family kindly requests donations to Cypress Methodist Church.
