Roy Morris, 85, passed away at his home on December 2 surrounded by his family. Roy was born on June 2, 1928 and grew up in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. After graduating from high school in 1947 he departed to Toledo, Ohio and eventually to Houston, TX in 1949. He married Shirley Ennis in 1950 and they began their family together and raised four children. Throughout his long life, Roy was an entrepreneur who created many businesses, from restaurants to grocery stores. While raising a family and working, Roy furthered his education and achieved his goal of graduating as a Certified Life Underwriter and Financial Advisor; he finally retired in 2003. Roy was an immensely dedicated father and husband. Soon after their first child, Shirley was stricken with polio and has dealt with Post Polio Syndrome later in life. Roy never waivered in his deep love and dedication to his wife and family and felt blessed to be able to grow closer than ever to them all in the last ten years. Roy was preceded in death by his daughters: Marsha Lynn Morris & Nancy Leigh Archer. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Shirley; daughter, Diane Reich & husband John; sons: Richard Morris & wife Marla, Ronald Morris & wife Kristy. Additionally he leaves nine grandchildren: Bradley Morris, Sarah Reich, Brian Archer, Adam Morris, Michael Reich, Mark Archer, Jason Morris, Emily Morris and Amy Morris. Roy was proud to be a great grandfather to two new children: Gage Morris age 4 months & Lynnly Morris age 3 weeks. We will all miss him dearly and will always remember him as a role model for how to conduct your life. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:30pm, Sat., Dec. 7th at Brookside Chapel of Chimes for immediate family members only.
